After I showered and dressed OH called in to see us for an hour. As he arrived I was putting on some washing and Rodders was playing in the conservatory. He didn't hear the back door until almost the last moment but was thrilled to see who it was and wanted straight up for a snuggle. We all ended up having a group hug as I think it was the only way I was going to get to say hello too!
OH and I had a cuppa and a bit of breakfast and then he had a play with Rodders while I brought the bin back in. OH and I then popped upstairs to fit my new cool pad to my bed in the hope that it helps me to sleep better. Finally we all had a snuggle on the sofa before it was time for OH to go. As OH and I had a hug goodbye Rodders was making some strange noises, I think he is getting a bit jealous.
As normal Rodders trotted out to the gate with OH but when I called him back he got halfway and stopped for a piddle. OH managed to get out the gate safely which is the main thing. Rodders stayed out there for a little while sniffing about and squeaking a bit. I don't think he had heard OH's car go as he parked somewhere different today.
I emptied & reloaded the washing machine and Rodders chased his toys about.
Once my hair was dry I put on my dog walking gear and got one of my new hat and glove sets ready so that we could head to Gadebridge Park. Rodders was very excited to be going out and was jumping up. I managed to get him to sit and wait at the door and walked him to the car.
Once parked I got him out the car and put his lead back on. As we were walking to the edge of the park two ladies with three dogs were coming off. Their dogs started barking and so Rodders joined in, they seemed to be giving us a wide berth so I didn't let Rodders say hello to them.
As we got to the park I made him sit and swapped to the extendable lead so that he could have more freedom. He was very happy running about and he got to meet many dogs that were off the lead. Rodders wanted to run off and play with some of them and wasn't happy to be on his lead. Luckily some of them were happy to play with him and he got to run about with a Golden Retriever and a Chocolate Lab amongst others.
Rodders was very good at coming when called and he was happy to just sit and watch what was going on about him several times. We walked our way around the whole park and the only time he was a little nervous was when some children came past us on bikes and scooters. He wasn't bothered by a young lad in a wheelchair, even when he asked if he was Toto from the wizard of Oz. Rodders had a good look at the River Gade and looked as though he might try to go in there at one point but he saw another dog which distracted him. As we got back to where we started he sat while I swapped leads again so that we could walk to the car.
As we were about to get in the car he spotted a Staffie pup and wanted to play. It looked like a smaller version of Molly from Puppy Party and was called Fletcher. They started off sniffing each other but it was obvious that Fletcher wanted to play. When Fletcher got a bit rough Rodders put him in his place by barking at him, when Fletcher tried again Rodders let him play for a little while and then growled at him. The couple with him were not very happy about it but I explained that they were just playing and working out where the boundaries are and both dogs had their tales up. After a little while we parted company and I put Rodders back in his car crate.
Once we were back home I gave Rodders his lunch and after a bit of a play and a trip to the garden he was happy to have a snooze.
He woke up with the devil in him and, as well as playing with his toys, he was up to all sorts of mischief. The door stop kept being dragged across the floor and then he started to take the washing off the radiator. He was found chewing the door mat at the back door when I thought he was playing quietly with his bone.
He was in and out of the garden and it was nice to hear him playing with the stones on the patio again. I don't think he has done this properly for almost two weeks.
He is barking a lot today and it is sometimes difficult to work out why. I really hope my neighbours can't hear him or don't mind too much.
Just got Rodders, a miniature schnauzer puppy and wanted to document our journey together. Never had a puppy or a blog before so this could be interesting!

Another day at work
Rodders and I were up at 6.30am and, he was soon barking for his breakfast, after he had been out for a piddle.
He was quite cuddly so I was late going for a shower which meant that he only got a quick walk around the block. When it was time for me to go to work he went in to his crate without too much trouble, this really is amazing when he isn't getting any treats.
I spent the morning going through the last bits of my handover with Debbie and then came home for lunch. Rodders was very pleased to see me and was barking by the time I came through the lounge door. He wasn't in any rush to go out in to the garden but did have a piddle eventually. I gave him his lunch and opened the post while I ate it. We then had a play of fetch and a snuggle before it was time for me to go back to work. He wasn't happy about going back in the crate and needed encouraging in. He sat with his back to me as I locked it and gave two barks and a whine as I walked away from the house, I couldn't hear him by the time I got to the car.
We had a slow afternoon and when it was time for me to come home Debbie, the lady I am taking over from, told me that she would be happy to puppy sit whenever I need her to. She lost her Cocker Spaniel, Eric, earlier this year and already looks after a couple of dogs for her friends. Is this the home from home I have been looking for?

A better day
OH got up with Rodders this morning so I got a bit of a lie in. He sent Rodders up to wake me just before 6.30am and I came down for my cuppa and to give Rodders his breakfast. I then threw on my dog walking clothes just before OH left for work. Rodders didn't go out to the gate to say goodbye to OH this morning, he stood and watched from the patio until he heard the car go.
It is wet and miserable this morning so our walk was mainly on the roads on the estate with a short time on the very muddy and soggy rugby field.
I then had to wash and change for work. Rodders is such a good puppy but he doesn't understand why I am not giving him any treats and so he wouldn't walk in to his crate as normal and I had to lift him in. He still didn't make a sound.
At lunchtime I managed to get home, give Rodders a fuss, get him outside in the garden for a piddle, give him his lunch, make a cuppa and some toast for me, poop scoop the garden, give OH an update, play fetch with Rodders and put him back in his crate to be back at work in 45 minutes!
Tonight when I got home Rodders was more like his usual self and started to bark when he saw me. After a very quick fuss he wanted in to the garden for a long piddle and then went in to the kitchen to bark for his tea! After he had eaten and we had played for a little I went up to change and Rodders was running off with slippers and stealing socks from the laundry. OH called on his way to his hotel for the night and was pleased to hear that Rodders is feeling better and getting in to mischief.
I ate my tea while Rodders played on his own with his toys and then tried to keep him occupied as he kept going in to the kitchen and barking for food. When toys didn't seem to be working and he didn't want to be up on my knee or in the garden I put on my coat and his lead and we went out for a tramp around the streets for a little while.
I gave Rodders his supper at 8.30pm and after a trip to the garden he was happy to settle down next to me on the sofa. He wasn't too fussed when OH face timed us to say goodnight, after a quick listen and a glance he settled back down to sleep! It won't be too long before we go to bed.

What am I like!
So everything went to plan, puppy walked, me showered, hair dry and dressed for work. It was very frosty and we were lucky not to slip over on the paths and patio this morning. Rodders also ate most of his chicken and rice.
When it came to telling Rodders that I needed to go to work and he had to stay here I was in tears :-( Soppy cow that I am! He didn't seem bothered and went straight in his crate for treats - he had been out to the garden for a piddle 5 minutes before.
So off I went for my first day and met with HR for a brief induction before being handed over to my Manager and then the girl I am replacing. By the end of the morning I had two pages of notes and things were starting to make sense. It does seem a bit of a disjointed system with some things being done manually but I am sure I will get to grips with it.
By lunchtime I was getting twitchy about Rodders and couldn't wait to get him, thank goodness it is less than 5 minutes away! I shouldn't have been worried, he was quiet when I came in the door and didn't make a sound until I spoke. He then started squeaking and was desperate to get out of the crate for a fuss. As soon as he had been given a fuss I took him in to the garden for a piddle before making a cuppa and heating and eating my lunch. While waiting for things to cool down we were playing fetch with the ball. Lunch eaten (Rodders finished this mornings Chicken and Rice), I popped Rodders lead on and we went out in to the rain to deliver the Christmas Cards around Pentland. Rodders then had another run around in the garden before it was time to pop him back in his crate for the afternoon. This time I gave him a big chew along with his normal treats.

Sunday night/Monday morning
Rodders played throughout most of the evening which is unusual but did settle on his bed pad eventually. At one point he asked to go out in to the garden three times in less than half an hour!
At bed time he didn't want to go out and tried to go straight in to his bed so I carried him out and put him on the grass. After a stretch he did go and have a piddle before almost running back in to go to his bed and wait for his treats while I locked up and switched out lights.
There wasn't a peep out of him until 5am this morning when he could hear the ADT van. It is a really frosty morning and it would seem that the guy had just left it running to defrost and Rodders wasn't happy with that so was barking. He was still a tired puppy and he didn't want to go in the garden so he and I settled on the sofa for another hour.
He heard another vehicle running and started to bark again but I was able to quieten him down by saying shh.
Once I got off the sofa he was happy to potter about playing and he asked to go in to the garden at about 6.15. I made a cuppa and sorted out his breakfast while he was outside.
The plan for this morning is to have my cuppa, throw on my dog walking gear and take him up the rugby field before coming home for a shower. This is going to be my first morning at work, wonder how Rodders will react!

We now have a little horror!
Rodders was having a quiet snooze on the sofa with me and then we got two interruptions. The first one was a christmas card being delivered and Sophie knocked incase Roders ate post, the second was Kevin and Polo coming to visit us.
Polo and Rodders have met before and they seemed to get on OK again today. Except someone piddled on the floor, not sure who :-( It was quite a big puddle and I am not convinced it was Rodders. I made Kev and I a cuppa and we sat nattering while Rodders chased Polo about and asking him to play. When Polo got fed up with being batted with a paw and teased by him I put his Rodders lead on and tried to make him sit. He threw a complete tantrum and was trying to bite me so he got severely checked. I then managed to get him to lie down and stood on the lead so he couldn't get up. He lay at my feet making play with me noises but at least he stayed down.
Once they left Rodders had the devil in him. He was running around getting in to mischief as I was trying to tidy up all the wrapping paper stuff and then I found him sitting in his toy box. At least that was keeping him quiet! He then decided to throw all his toys out of the toy box and the conservatory floor was covered, this is one spoilt puppy! I hope he doesn't get too many more for Christmas or we will be looking for a new, bigger, toy box.
As I cooked dinner he was under my feet in the kitchen waiting to see if anything dropped. He then asked for his dinner, the first time in ages, so he must be feeling better. He has eaten most of it too.
There are now fireworks going off and so he is barking at them. I think I have just managed to distract him as he has gone back to his toys.

Putting up the Christmas Tree
As I sorted out lunch OH got the tree in and in to its stand. Rodders was helping as much as he could which involved licking OH's face and ears and jumping all over him when he lay down on the floor to tighten up the stand. So far Rodders doesn't seem too interested in the tree itself.
Once lunch was over OH started to put the lights on the tree. He is trying to make sure we are as puppy proof as possible and so the plugs will all be on top of my bookcases which means that we are starting the lights from the top of the tree rather than the bottom, a little unconventional but hey ho!
By late afternoon OH decided that we needed more lights (600 aren't enough apparently) so I got despatched to B&Q for more. He had also condemned two sets of lights that I have had since I first left home, I was very sad to see these go as my Mum bought them for me. When I got to B&Q it was 3 for 2 on all christmas decorations so I bought another 480 lights, a few more decorations and some gaffer tape.
By the time I got back home Rodders and OH had been out the front to put the twinkly lights on my bush (this phrase always raises a giggle from one of my friends, no idea why ;-)) and the outside lights were laid out ready to go up. He had also set up the lighted Christmas trees on my window sill. We are looking as though Christmas is going to happen in this house now!
As the light was fading we all went out the front to put up the outside lights. Rodders seemed a bit confused by this as he had his lead on but wasn't getting to go anywhere so he just sat and barked at people going past and found some paper to chew.
OH put the rest of the lights on the tree while I peeled potatoes for dinner. At last, it was time to bring down the boxes and start to decorate the tree, my favourite bit :-) As I started to do this I was sure that we were some decorations missing, OH was sure that he had brought down all the boxes and I am sure he hadn't! I carried on decorating the tree as OH sorted out all the wires for the front lights and the tree lights. He has done a brilliant job and if Rodders manages to get anywhere near any of them it will be a miracle.
I managed to convince OH that we were definitely missing decorations and so the ladder went back upstairs so I could check. Sure enough I found them and pointed out where they were so that he could get them down. He then helped me to decorate the rest of the tree and get cleared up before dinner.
Through out all of this Rodders didn't seem too bothered, he stayed close to us but didn't interfere and went off to his bed pad for a snooze at one point. We also lost him for a minute and found him asleep in his crate!
I also had a bit of a silly five minutes and started crying. Not too sure what that was all about, possibly having to get rid of the lights OH had condemned as I am a bit of a soppy bugger. OH and Rodders were both there with cuddles and I managed to pull myself back together.

Getting ready for an interview
Rodders came upstairs with me while I had a shower and ate a kong full of kibble before deciding to chew the bath mat. He was very happy when I came out the shower and was squeaking from the minute I switched the water off, he does like to come in for a quick drink out the shower tray.
OH called for a chat and to let me know that he would probably be here before I got back. I wonder how Rodders will react to that! He also mentioned that he had to scrape the ice off his car this morning. I was sitting here all smug saying "we don't have a frost" as the grass wasn't crunchy under Rodder's feet and then I looked out the front. The cars are all covered in a thick frost :-(
He wasn't as well behaved as normal while I dried my hair today. He usually sits beside or behind me but today he was trying to climb on my knee and steal tissues out of my dressing gown pocket. I did stop what I was doing a couple of times so that I could give him a fuss, it is impossible to resist this gorgeous puppy!
He stayed on the bed while I got dressed and seemed to know that something wasn't right by the clothes I was putting on, no jeans and jumpers today. Once back downstairs I let him out in to the garden for a piddle before sitting him down to tell him that I was going out and he needed to go in his bed. I locked the door, put on my coat and got his treats. Once he knew that there were treats on offer he did climb in to his bed by himself. I locked the crate and said goodbye, not a peep from him.

Back home again
As soon as we got back in the house Rodders had a quick play before going in to the kitchen and barking for something to eat.
He was leaping about as I filled his bowl with kibble so he seems to have worked up an appetite! He ate almost all of it and then went out in to the garden.
Once he came back in he collapsed on his bed pad by the sofa and has hardly moved since, even when I went through to make something to eat!
We definitely have a tired puppy tonight!

Another little thing
I have been meaning to mention this for a few days.
When Rodders wants to come on from the garden he used to stand on his step and bark. It was always difficult to open the door to let him in as he was stood in the way.
He has now learnt to stand with his front feet on the step as he barks. When he sees me approach the door he now takes his feet off the step so that he can hop in the door as quickly as I open it.
What a clever puppy!

Back home
On the way home I had a chat with OH as he was still on the way home. He had called in at mine earlier for a cuppa and a yoghurt (pot put down for Rodders) and had carried my bag upstairs for me.
We couldn't get parked anywhere last night so we ended up out the back at the garages against the back fence. I let Rodders off his lead as soon as we were through the gate and he had a piddle and then ran in the back door, up the stairs to check if anyone was here and then back down again to collapse on snuggle fleece.
I had to nip out to the car to bring in his bed pad and I left him inside. He did get up and amble to the back door but didn't make a sound.
He was very happy to have his bed pad and settled down straight away. He didn't move from there until bed time! We definitely have a cream crackered puppy tonight.

A whimper in the night
At bed time I took Rodders out in to the garden for a final piddle and he performed almost immediately, much better than the last couple of nights when he has sat there for ages.
Once he had finished he came back in and went straight to his bed pad, watching me as I locked up and switched out lights. Once I had his treats in my hand he was happy to come and climb in to his bed for the night and settled down straight away.
OH heard Rodders whimper at about 3am and then he started to bark at 5am so he got up and came down to him. He went straight out in to he garden for a poo and then a piddle, came back in for a quick snuggle and then wanted straight back out for another poo about five minutes later.
After that they had a snuggle on the sofa for a while but Rodders wouldn't let OH go back to sleep, each time he tried Rodders gave him a wash! He did also manage to help himself to a used tissue on the sofa, OH said it is a bit like a magician getting flags out of his mouth trying to remove a tissue from Rodders mouth, it seems to just keep on coming!
They had breakfast together before coming upstairs so that OH could have a shower and Rodders could check where I was. He jumped up at the side of the bed so I gave him a bit of a fuss and then heard OH call him to the bathroom so I rolled over for another snooze. What I didn't know until later was that Rodders hadn't gone to the bathroom, he had gone downstairs with my bra! He came back up as OH got out of the shower. As OH was drying himself off he could hear Rodders trying to get in to the laundry so came through to stop him.
Rodders came up on the bed with me while OH got dressed and was trying to get OH's socks when he wasn't jumping all over my head or trying to chew my hair. Once back down he disappeared downstairs with one of my shoes.
OH came downstairs as I went in to the bathroom and retrieved my shoe and threw my slippers back up to me, my laminate floors downstairs are cold so you always need something on your feet! Laminate is great when you have a puppy though, much easier to clean puddles up from than a carpet. Luckily he has only piddled on the landing carpet twice so far.
As OH was leaving Rodders went out to the gate with him but came running back inside when I called him. I think this is brilliant as he loves being with OH but knows that I am the boss!
Once OH had gone Rodders was happy to settle back down on his bed pad for a snooze.

A clean bowl
Rodders now stands and barks at the kitchen door if he is hungry as he knows his food bin is out in the passage.
I gave him his supper about five minutes ago and the whole bowlful went in one go. He must have been a hungry puppy!

An early start again
My sister and I sat watching Peter Kay night on channel 4 until almost 11.30pm so it was a late night, Rodders spent most of the evening asleep on his bed pad. Rodders wasn't impressed when we went out to the garden for a final piddle as it was chucking it down with rain and, rather than getting on with it, the silly puppy sat on the grass for ages. After about 5 minutes he tried to head back indoors but came back and had a piddle when I asked him to.
When we came in he sat on snuggle fleece waiting for me to lock up, switch out lights and get his treats ready and needed a bit of encouragement to get in to his bed.
I first heard him barking at 5.45am and left him for a few minutes but he wasn't settling so I got up and came down to let him out. Rather than try to put him back in his crate and risk disturbing my sister I let him up on the sofa and the pair of us slept until 7.30am when we heard Sue in the bathroom.
He seemed to know that there was something going on this morning and wouldn't eat his breakfast. I managed to get washed and dressed, pack Rodders a bag of treats, food, toys, towel and bowl and be ready to leave in an hour. Good job my sister can look after herself and helped herself to breakfast!

Week 5 of puppy school
Just before we left for puppy school I managed to get the final bits of ice out of the freezer, cleaned up and switched it back on. It has taken 24 hours and I suspect that half the stuff in the cool box will now need to go to the tip :-(
Rodders asked to go out in to the garden just as I was about to get my coat and wellies on so I was able to do it in peace. Once in a slipped his lead on and we went out to the car. For some reason he cried for the first five minutes today.
Once there we spotted a new puppy in the car park, a 12 week old red setter called Juno, so we went over to say hello. This is his first week out on a lead so he was happy to see another puppy and kept batting Rodders with his paw. Rodders didn't seem to mind! Tarka joined us and then Tinker. Sam finished with the previous class and called us in to the hall, just as we were doing sit and wait at the door the little black cocker spaniel that Pete brought to class a couple of weeks ago joined us but this time with her owner.
To start with we just had the dogs sat with us while Sam introduced Juno and his opener. We then made our way out to the car park again and swapped puppies and handed out treats. Rodders still spends half his time looking to see where I am, possibly because the other puppies treats are too big for him, but he is getting better.
Then it was on to the field for some heel and sit and heel and down, Rodders still doesn't like going down and as the class wore on he was getting a bit snappy so earnt a good few checks. He did much better at slalom through the other dogs but is easily distracted and moves out of sit. When we moved on to playing with their tuggies and practicing leave he was a bit of a monkey and Sam thinks we need to move on from the puppy lead this week to have more control. She thinks we should also practice this at home with his lead on.
He didn't do so well at sit and wait out on the field today and Sam had to hold him while I walked away. We didn't even try sit and stay as he was being such a monkey so he had to be held in the down for about 5 minutes while the other puppy's did it (apart from Juno, bit much at a first lesson!)
We moved on to the agility course and Rodders did great at the jumps, the tunnel (which he loves) and the A Frame (much more confident this week) so we could have an agility dog in the making!
We walked back to the hall with the puppies at heel before doing the down command again. Rodders was better at this by the end of the day but we are going to need to practice this too. This was Tarka's last week at Puppy Class and she moves on to the lesson before us from next week.
Sam mentioned that his sit and wait at the door is much better and can see that we have been practicing. She also said there are some great pictures at the vets from Wednesday night and we had a laugh about Appa holding off the other dogs.
Back in the car Rodders was fine on the way home.

Puppy Party number two
As we arrived at the vets for Puppy Party I could see that others were just getting out of their cars. As I opened the back of my car to let Rodders out he started barking and as soon as he was down on the ground he was pulling to get towards Marley and Appa.
We all let the dogs stop and have a sniff hello before walking in the door and we were chatting about how our week had gone.
Once inside we were asked to move straight in to the waiting room so that they could bring an emergency through, this was the first of the night and another followed about an hour later.
Molly arrived a few minutes later and Nicci checked how our weeks had gone and then started to talk about tonights topics. Over the course of the evening we covered neutering, microchipping, feeding, pet insurance and then Nicci went on to answer any questions we had.
While we were all talking we let Appa and Rodders off their leads, Rodders was quite funny as he wasn't sure what to do for a minute. Nicci was sitting there with liver treats and as he started to walk towards her he got to what is normally the end of his lead and stopped and looked at me before realising that he was free to wander. They were quite happy trotting around sniffing, and going back for Liver Treats, but didn't seem to play much together. After a little while we let Molly and Marley down too. They play much rougher and Rodders wanted to join in and held his own much better this week. When things got too rough he would just go and sit by someones leg for some respite and then go and try again. Towards the end of the evening he just stayed on the outskirts at someones leg.
Appa was the star of the evening though. Nicci did have to rescue him from Marley and Molly at one point but he was soon happy to toddle off and went back behind the chairs. Once he took up a station under one of the chairs he wouldn't let any of the puppies under there with him and barked a warning to them. It was really funny to watch Molly and Marley trying to get to him and make him play, Appa wasn't having any of it and made it very clear. Rodders still needs to learn how to do this but he was paying attention and watching and listening to Appa.
While they were playing Judith, the other nurse, was taking photo's of them to attach to their file.
For the last 15 minutes Nicci threw out toys for the puppies to play with, Molly and Marley had a game of tug and Rodders didn't seem to impressed that the Kong didn't have any kibble in it so went off to find something else to play with.

Plans go to pot
The plan was to go to Pets at Home and then to Gadebridge Park for a walk.
I put my coat on and Rodders lead, grabbed the bed and off we went to the car. Once we got to Pets at Home Rodders started barking as soon as he got out the car, I think he knows this place too well.
We had a wander about and picked up some dog treats (for Rodders & Finnans Christmas present) and the pet food holder and talked to people that we met including an 8 week old Jack Russell puppy called Mia (very tiny, very gorgeous!) and a toddler who was very excited to see Rodders bbefore we bumped in to Kirsty who works there, she loves Mini Schnauzers and wants one of her own and is keeping her eye out for a rescue dog. She has met Rodders before and couldn't believe how much he had grown. She was very patient and waited for Rodders to approach her before she fussed him, her patience paid off and she got a snuggle too. He also made friends with what looked like a small white samoyed and a couple of GSD's - size really doesn't matter to Rodders!
By the time we came out of there the weather had turned, the wind was up, it was spitting with rain and almost dark, Gadebridge Park is off the menu then!
I decided to go back to the Pet Supermarket at St Albans to see if we could find another bed bad, similar to what we got on Sunday but oblong. Rodders barked his way around most of the store until we got to the toys. The cheeky monkey found himself a toy! Luckily it was only £2.49, one of those old fashioned rubber dumbbells with a bell in it. He happily chased it around the store while I looked at the beds and other things. Several people stopped to talk to him but there were no dogs in today. We didn't buy a bed, all the right shaped ones seemed to have hard covers and I wanted something fleecy and snuggly. I suppose it would have been OK with his snuggle fleece on top.
Once we got home Rodders was happy to run about playing with his new toy and his yoghurt pots and had a mad 5 minutes while he was flying about. He then asked to go out in the garden for a piddle and a play and came back in soaking.
We then had a game of tug before he asked to go back out. Once he was back in he was happy to settle down on snuggle fleece, his first nap since about 1pm. We have moved through to the lounge and he is now on his new bed pad. I will give him an hour before giving him his supper.

Oh what joy
Rodders was playing in the garden just before OH arrived home so when I saw the car at the back I opened the patio door. He could hear something and started to bark and ran towards the gate.
As soon as OH spoke the barking changed to squeaks of joy and Rodders could hardly wait for him to come through there gate. He was dancing around his feet as they came up the path and in to the house and couldn't what to get up for a snuggle.
OH had been working for a friend today and their black lab puppy Cookie was there, Rodders didn't even seem to notice the smell or wasn't bothered by it.
OH and Rodders then went upstairs to get slippers and use the bathroom and then came down for a play while I sorted out dinner. OH tells me that Rodders is getting very good at stopping play when he gets too excited or rough and calms down quite quickly but Rodders wasn't really ready to stop playing when dinner was ready and kept jumping up OH at the dinner table, bad boy. He did eventually settle on his snuggle fleece.
Once we had eaten and I had cleared away I left Rodders with OH while I loaded the car up ready to go to the tip. It is so much quicker to do it on my own. Rodders didn't seem bothered by me putting on my coat and going out the kitchen door without him, I am so pleased that he is happy to be with OH.
After looking at some eBay items on OH's lappie and searching on mine I think another trip to Pets at Home is on order to buy a bin to keep Rodders kibble in. It will be far easier to keep it in there and the Curver ones at Pets at Home seem far better than anything else I can find.

Muddy puppy
When Rodders came back in from the garden it looked as though he had been making mud pies with his chin and his beard was covered! I have taken a photo and must try to remember to come back and add it later.
The muddy puppy also wanted up for a fuss. While he was in my arms I started to comb through his legs and face but couldn't get under his chin. I put him on the floor on a snuggle fleece and managed to get through the worst of it, he wasn't too happy though as I had to tug a bit in places.
ETA Not a great photo, but you get the idea!

Playful puppy
Rodders was taken in to the garden at 11pm last night but declined the opportunity for a piddle and came back in and took himself off to bed.
I locked up, put the lights off and sorted out his treats and said goodnight. Not a peep.
At 7am this morning there was one bark and I lay in bed listening to see if there would be any more. Nothing until 10 minutes later when I walked across to the bathroom when the puppy squeaking started. I came down and let him out the crate, he rolled over for a tummy rub before dashing to the door to go out in to the garden for a piddle.
He came back in and found his chew from last night and started playing, then the yoghurt pots came in to play and were being thrown around and chewed. Rodders was having a great time. All of a sudden he changed from playing to sniffing and ran to the back door to ask to go out for a poo and a sniff around the garden.
Once back in he was happy playing but came to me for a quick snuggle and then went to bark at the door, I think he wants to go and check if OH is upstairs! Another play, and less than an hour after he got up he was ready for a snooze. He came up on the sofa with me for a while and then he and snuggle fleece got moved to the floor at my feet.
