OH arrived home and Rodders was busy chewing a cardboard tube on the door mat. OH stood outside and watched him for a moment before opening the door. Rodders leapt up, barked once and then started squeaking with delight. He was desperate to be picked up for a snuggle.
Once Rodders had calmed down a little we all headed upstairs so that OH and I could get changed in to our scruffs - so much easier when there is a chance of playing on the floor with a puppy or being leapt on with wet paws! Rodders had one attempt at raiding the laundry but one word from Oh and he stopped straight away.
I left OH and Rodders upstairs and came down to carry on with dinner. They soon joined me and were happy playing until it was time to eat.
Rodders always seems to ask to go out in to the garden while I am eating and so I am getting quite used to leaping up and down mid meal! OH thinks maybe we should swap sides so that he can take his turn.
After we had eaten Rodders was given his dinner by OH as I was clearing up and he sat and waited nicely while the bowls were put down. He was given the very last of a tin of id diet made up to 80g with kibble. It would appear that he was hungry as it disappeared fairly quickly. I have kept back 2 tins of id diet in case we have any similar problems in the future. Rodders seems to drink more when he is eating kibble which makes me happier, I know the id diet is wet food but I can't see how he can get all his water intake from that, I do like to see the levels on his water bowls decreasing! It is good to see that he is now drinking from the bowl in his crate.
Once he had finished eating he came through for a snuggle on the sofa with OH. OH was lying full length on the sofa and Rodders started off on his chest but soon went exploring. When I looked up he was standing on OH's feet peering over at me on the other sofa. He really is quite funny and very cute!
Once he asked to go down he was happy to snooze on his bed pad or, when he got too warm, on a snuggle fleece. He is still barking quite a lot but OH seems to be able to get him to quieten down easier than I can. Although he doesn't speak Rodders very well and can't tell when the bark means something like I have my toy stuck under a chair or somewhere inaccessible or if it means he wants to go out in the garden. So even when he is here it is still me that is leaping up and down!
At bedtime Rodders was happy to walk out in to the garden as long as I went with him but he took an age before he decided to piddle. As soon as that was done he wanted straight back in the house but had to be lifted in to his crate once I had locked up and switched the lights out. I gave him a few bits of kibble as a treat.
At just after 4am he started to bark the house down and OH shot out of bed (this makes up for not speaking Rodders!) and came downstairs to him. After a quick fuss it was obvious that Rodders was desperate to go out in the garden and he went straight out and pooped. Once back inside he wanted to play but OH wasn't having any of it. He enticed him back in to the crate with some kibble and said goodnight. Rodders wasn't happy and sat with his back to him and his tail out in the hope that the crate wouldn't shut, it did! Rodders gave a few whingy squeaks when OH came back to bed but soon settled back down.
When OH's alarm went off he switched it off and fell back to sleep so there was a bit if a panic when he did wake up. He went straight in the shower and had been in there for a few minutes before Rodders started to bark. I got up and came down to sort him out.
I gave Rodders a bit of a fuss and then he wanted out in to the garden for a piddle. He rushed back in when he heard OH come down and wanted a fuss. I got them both breakfast and made us a cuppa - Rodders doesn't get one of these! Rodders was slightly confused as there was only one bowl with something in it, I should have lifted the other one, silly me.
When OH was leaving for work Rodders went out with him but wouldn't come back when I called him so I had to go out and lift him up. As soon as OH was out of the gate I put him back down and he was happy to follow me inside.
I went up and got washed and dressed ready for a walk around the Rugby field. Rodders was very excited to be going out and it took a couple of attempts to make him sit and wait at the door. He also tried to pull on the lead to start with but we soon sorted that and by the time we got to the road he was happy to sit and wait before we crossed.
As we got to the field he sat and waited for me to swap leads and then he was off sniffing and running about. He stopped to poop and then waited while I cleaned up and we made our way up towards the bin to dispose of it. We finished our run around the field, swapped leads and headed home.
Once home I washed my hands and then made myself a sandwich to take to work, I only got crisps and chocolate yesterday and was so hungry by dinner time so I can't do that again. Rodders ate a bit more of his breakfast, but not all of it, and we had a snuggle on the sofa before I had to take off my jeans and jumper and throw on my dress and boots for work.
We had a quick snuggle on the sofa and checked how OH's journey was going before it was time to put Rodders in his crate, with some kibble, ad head to work. For the first time on my nice short commute I had to deal with queuing traffic! Still did the journey in 5 minutes though.
I popped home at lunchtime and once Rodders had calmed down a bit I gave him his lunch and then we went out in to the garden so I could poop scoop. Rodders came in with me while I went to the bin at the front door and then wanted to go back out. He came running in when the front door went. It was an asian gentleman trying to sell cavity wall insulation and Rodders didn't seem to like him and kept growling. I got rid of him fairly quickly and Rodders went back out for a piddle. Just as I put him back in the crate, with the dental kong full of kibble, the front door went again and it was Bob next door with a parcel for me. I took it off him as I went out the door.
After work the weather was horrid, howling gale and rain, and the traffic awful so it took me almost 15 minutes to get home. Rodders did go out for a piddle when I first got in but hasn't really gone out since. He has stuck his head out three times and I threw him out the fourth time he asked but he just stood on the patio getting blown about for a few minutes and then asked to come back in. He is going to have to go out before bedtime whether he likes it or not.
I cooked and ate my dinner, cleared up and sorted out Rodders supper which he got when he barked for it. He must have been hungry as this is the first meal he has finished all day.
Sue, the dog walker, came round tonight to meet Rodders, pick up a key and drop off the final paperwork for me to complete. She seems very nice and was well prepared for a shy puppy as she came armed with sausage. She will collect Rodders twice a week and he will probably be out of the house for a couple of hours, 1 hour will be spent collecting and dropping off other dogs and he will get a 1 hour walk. She usually has 4-6 dogs with her each time. She knows that he isn't allowed off lead yet and will wait for me to let her know when it is OK. We can drop a day any time we like by texting her the night before and, in an emergency, she can usually fit him in for an extra walk if needed. She doesn't approve of choke chains though so I may need to buy him another collar. She is also happy to out him back in his crate with a kong if I leave it out. We also talked about holiday cover as she does home from home boarding and she has provisionally booked Rodders in for July when OH and I are going to Gibraltar for a friends wedding.
Just got Rodders, a miniature schnauzer puppy and wanted to document our journey together. Never had a puppy or a blog before so this could be interesting!

A bit of walking and a bit of shopping
The postie came and delivered the new choke chain I ordered yesterday, what great service that is. It is quite fine but it will do for now and I know that he can't get his leg trapped in it like he did with the bigger one. I can always use the longer, more robust one for puppy school.
Rodders and I headed up the rugby field reasonably early as rain is forecast for later. As usual he walked nicely up there and sat while I swapped leads. He was very happy running around sniffing and wanted to play with a greyhound that completely ignored his pleas! Unfortunately it would now seem that he has a bit of a squitty botty so I need to keep an eye on that.
I spoke to OH about it and I am not going to up the ratio of kibble to id diet for now to see if it settles down. It may just be that the kibble is a bit rich for his delicate tummy right now.
Once we were back from the field we went out in to the garden and had a play with his new ball launcher. He seems to like chasing his ball and picking it up but he isn't very good at giving it back so we need to work on that. Once he got the ball he was happy to run about with it in his mouth and it was even more fun if I was chasing him! This could be a better idea for play at lunchtime rather than me trying to find the time to walk him in my 45 minute break.
Once I had worn him out a bit I needed to put him in his crate and go out shopping, he wasn't very happy about it but he did go in without making a noise once I put his front paws in. Rodders is spending much more time up on the sofa with me and so I want a blanket or throw to cover it with as it is too difficult to keep him on his snuggle fleece. I headed to Dunelm as they have a sale on and I got a wine coloured fleece blanket that matches the sofa which had 30% off, a cover for the bed that I can use in the summer instead of the duvet with 50% off and a non slip bathmat for when Rodders goes in there with 15% off. I do like a bargain!
I then went to Sainsbury's to fill up with fuel before heading in to town. I had a look at the M&S and Next sales without buying anything and then wandered in to Accessorise to see if there was anything to spend my Christmas vouchers on. I found a silly hat with matching glove/mittens to keep me warm on cold windy days and another hat to match the glove/mittens I got bought for Christmas for when it isn't so windy. Both will also hide bad hair days very nicely. All with 50% off! More bargains :-) So that is half of my vouchers spent. I also picked up a small present to put away for a February birthday.
I thought I had better head home before I got too carried away. Rodders was very happy to hear me put the key in the lock and started to squeak straight away. It wasn't because he wanted out either as he wouldn't go out until after he had eaten his lunch.

Christmas Day
Rodders woke up at 6.15am and we went straight in to the garden so he could have a piddle and then he had breakfast. We played with his ball for a while and then he settled on snuggle fleece and had a doze until everyone else got up.
We sneaked in to the lounge to check if Santa had been and there were lots of presents under the tree, I hope some of them are for us!
Once Ailie was up and dressed I left Rodders with her while I went to get myself washed and dressed in my new dress, special for Christmas Day.
As everyone started breakfast Rodders and I went in to the garden for a run around. As they were almost finished Rodders and I joined them as the bubbly was being served. It was then the to get everyone in to the lounge and hand out the Christmas presents. As family tradition dictates, we then each open a present in turn until they are all open. This takes hours as we have to stop for comfort breaks, drinks refresh and to let Rodders out for a piddle. Eventually all presents were open and we had all been very spoilt.
Rodders opened a couple of his own presents, paying more attention to the wrapping paper than the actual present, but had to have them taken off him as they are treats and he isn't allowed them at the moment, but he did get a couple of things that he is allowed - a duck from OH that he isn't sure of and he got a ball and thrower to play in the garden or park with.
Rodders and I had a nap, curled up on the sofa together, until it was time for his lunch and then we went out for a walk so that he could have a run around and use up some of his excess energy. This was a big fail, once we came back he just wanted to run around and play so we have been in and out of the garden for long periods of time so that he can play with sticks and chase about.
He still wouldn't settle and wanted to be in the kitchen to see wheat was going on in the hope that something scrummy would be dropped. When I tried to keep him in the lounge he barked and barked at the door to be let out.
Eventually, just after 5pm I have in and gave him his tea. It would appear that he is starving as, once that was eaten, he was happy to settle on snuggle fleece and go to sleep.
I am a little sad that he won't get to eat any christmas dinner but it is better that his tummy is OK. He has now finished the anti sickness and antibiotic tablets so fingers are firmly crossed that he is OK over the next day or so.

Wow, what a good night and morning.
Rodders was fast asleep in his crate at midnight when I decided it was time to go to bed so I had to wake him up to go out for a piddle. He went all stiff legged on me and so I carried him out in to the garden and put him on the grass. He sat there for a second, had a stretch and then wandered off for a piddle. He then came straight back in and went to his bed and sat there while I locked up, switched out lights and got his treats ready. I shut him in the crate and went upstairs.
I slept through until 8am and there wasn't a sound from Rodders as I got up, used the bathroom and came downstairs. He was a very sleepy boy as I opened the crate and after a fuss went and lay down on the snuggle fleece by the radiator. Gradually he woke up and after I had made a cuppa asked to go in to the garden. He was out there for ages and had a piddle and a poop before going off to play.
By the time he had come in I had almost sorted out his chicken and rice but I had put it in the microwave to warm it a little and it was now too hot. I threw down a small handful of kibble and he wolfed that down. When I put the chicken and rice down he didn't seem interested to start with until I put a bowl of kibble beside it - he picked the chicken and rice!
After eating some of his breakfast he wanted to play with his toys for a while until I went upstairs to get washed and dressed. He came too and was happy to play in the bathroom and then sit on the bed.
Once we were back downstairs I popped his lead on and grabbed my coat so that we could walk up to the post box at the shops with the first batch of Christmas cards. It had started to rain a little but that didn't deter us. He was walking really nicely on the lead until we spotted another dog and he wanted to say hello. It was a two year old poodle/bichon cross who seemed very friendly. They had a good sniff at each other and a little play before we parted company.
He was sitting and waiting as we stopped to cross roads and the only thing that seemed to spook him was a lady at the bus stop with an umbrella.
Back home he needed drying off with his towel as he was soaking and he then wanted to play so we got his ball out and played fetch for a while. He then wanted to attack the Christmas Tree but did stop with a very firm no. He has had this mornings tablet in a little lump of cheese and has eaten more chicken and rice.
I made another cuppa and came to sit down and he wanted up on my lap. Once he settled and fell asleep I moved him and snuggle fleece on to his bed pad at my feet. He seemed a little shivery so I have wrapped snuggle fleece around him.

Rodders doesn't like wrapping
I started to wrap the christmas presents after dinner this evening and Rodders wasn't very impressed.
First of all I went upstairs to move the presents I sorted last night so that I could get to the wrapping paper. Rodders decided he wasn't coming upstairs but as I was so long he came up to see what was going on. I brought the paper down and stood at the dining table and started to wrap the first bag of presents. To start with Rodders lay on a snuggle fleece by the lounge radiator, then he moved to the bed pad by the sofa and eventually in to his crate as that was as close to me as he could get.
I have been back upstairs to get another bag of presents to wrap and he stayed where he was, or I thought he did, but I have spotted a piddle on the door mat :-( It is now in the washing machine for the 2nd time this week.
I have now wrapped three people's gifts and think that is enough for tonight. I have just had a drink and we will be heading off to bed shortly.

Did I bring a different puppy home?
Since we got back from the vets Rodders has been playing much more than he has done since Wednesday. He has been chasing his toys and playing fetch, trying to eat the Christmas Tree, jumping on me, chewing the door mat, he has been in and out of the garden and came back soaked one time and covered in mud another and generally up to mischief! It is like I brought a different puppy home and so much nicer than the sad one of the last few days.
OH has called to check how he is doing and then again to say he is on his way home from work. We won't see him until Monday now :-(
I have checked the freezer and we have two more bags of cooked chicken so I have taken another one out to defrost ready for tomorrow, which means that I only need to cook up some more rice for him.
As I am typing Rodders has settled down on a snuggle fleece for a rest.

After the vet
Rodders spent most of the day asleep on his bed pad or snuggle fleece, getting up to play for a little while and then having another snooze. When I went upstairs for anything he didn't want to come with me so I know that he isn't right. He didn't even react to the doorbell and he hasn't wanted to go out in to the garden for very long, just did what he had to do and then came back in.
Gradually he started to improve and when I made a cuppa I threw some kibble on the floor which he happily chased and ate.
I had chicken out on the side defrosting and I made him some rice. By about 2pm he was asking for something to eat so I had to try and cool the cooked rice down quickly by spreading it out on a big plate. Once cool it was mixed with the chicken and sprinkled some of the rehydrating salts on it and I put it down for him. He wolfed it down.
I mixed the rest of the rehydrating salts with water and swapped it for the plain water in his bowl. He has started to drink this too.

Wednesday night/Thursday morning
Once we got home from puppy party Rodders settled himself in to his crate for a snooze, after trying a snuggle fleece and the other bed pad, while we ate dinner. In fact he didn't move from there all evening, even when OH went and lay down on the floor, and I had to get him out of there to go for a piddle at bed time. He went straight back in there and was happy to have treats once I locked up and switched out lights.
Rodders was silent when we went to bed and didn't even make a peep when OH came down the stairs this morning. He did come out of the crate and was happy to play though.
When I came down he was very happy to see me and came running towards me and jumped up my leg asking for a fuss. While Oh was showering he went upstairs and had managed to get a jumper of a radiator so I took that off him and left him on the landing playing with OH's slipper!
They both came downstairs and just before OH left Rodders threw up again. This time it was just bile but his tummy is empty as he hasn't really eaten much apart from treats since Tuesday night. We have put his breakfast down but he isn't interested but he did eat some kibble from OH's hand. I may need to do him some Chicken and rice if this carries on.

A lively puppy
As I walked in the door I could hear Skevi talking to Rodders and then I heard him running down the room towards me. He was very happy to have me back and wanted up for a snuggle.
When Skevi got there he wasn't very sure about coming out of his crate and she had to bribe him out with treats. By the time I got home he was happy enough chasing the swiffer!
I rang the agency to let them know how I had got on with Rodders on my knee having a fuss. We are hopeful that we will have a decision overnight. My fingers are firmly crossed!
Skevi and I had a catch up. Her little one has now found out that he can get out of his cot so she needs to buy a stair gate to make sure he is safe upstairs. We already have a spare one in the loft so I will get OH to get it down for her to pick up when she is passing.
Rodders was happy to chase her about downstairs and once she moved upstairs he and I had a bit of a play until he wanted to settle down for a snooze with me.
He was still up on the sofa, on snuggle fleece, beside me when she left.

Home again, with a tired puppy
I left Rodders bed pad in the car as I knew we would be going out again later. When we first got in he sat on a snuggle fleece for a doze but soon moved in to his crate on his other bed pad. He really is very tired and, when I went up for a shower, he didn't want to come with me. I left the doors open so he could change his mind if he wanted.
I came back down to check on him once I was out the shower and he came out of his crate for a fuss. He also came upstairs and sat beside me on the bed while I dried my hair and got dressed but as soon as we were back down stairs he climbed back in to the crate.
I managed to get him to come out in to the garden for a piddle before I went for my interview before putting him back in the crate with some treats. I knew he wouldn't be in there for too long as Skevi would be here soon.

Whats that noise?
Rodders heard something just after 5am this morning that unsettled him and he started to squeak. OH got straight up with him and took him in the garden for a piddle and then they both settled down on the floor for a snooze with Rodders wrapped up against OH's chest on snuggle fleece. They remained there until the alarm went off.
As soon as I got up and dressed I took Rodders out for a piddle and poo so that OH could get ready in peace. He then carried some of the luggage and the crate out to the car before we went for breakfast.
Rodders started off a little bit noisy, barking as people came in, but we soon got him to settle and he lay on snuggle fleece between us. He got lots of fuss from the staff too.
Once breakfast was over we came back to the hotel and Rodders got lots more fuss from people in reception, one chap even took his photo. OH sorted out the bill and then had to go off to work. Rodders and I went back to the room to have a bit if a rest. I also took a call from the agency regarding the long term temp job, could I attend an interview at 4pm today. Yes I can :-)
We got a call from reception to ask if Rodders could do a guest appearance as there were more people that would like to see him. He was very happy to come out for more fuss and photo opportunities!
Afterwards we went back to the room and he settled down beside me on his snuggle fleece for another snooze and then woke up heaved twice and threw up :-( It would appear that green beans and cauliflower are not good for his tummy. Luckily it was all contained on the fleece.
I hadn't realised before, but he obviously wasn't his usual self this morning. Almost as soon as he had thrown up and I had cleared up he was back to his usual bouncy self so I decided it was a good time to head off for the final part of our adventure.

Back in the hotel
On the way back we stopped to chat with the hotel manager and she came out to have a play with Rodders in reception. He is quite good with her and doesn't mind her picking him up for a snuggle.
Back in our room OH added the extra's to Rodders bowl and he wolfed it down! He was then happy to snuggle up on the floor beside OH until our friend arrived. This was the first time she had met Rodders and she thought he was very cute. Once OH got Rodders playing she was laughing at the way he bounds after his toys. He did let her give him a fuss too.
Once she left us he settled back on to snuggle fleece until it was time for bed. I took him out in to the garden for a final piddle and then popped him in his crate with some treats. As soon as we were in bed, with the lights out, he started to whimper so OH went in beside him for a little while talking gently too him. It was almost midnight before he dropped off to sleep.

Out for dinner
Once OH brought in our luggage and Rodders crate we had a cuppa while we got settled in and then changed for dinner. I did give Rodders his supper but he didn't eat too much of it.
Rodders was a bit more interested in the people around and we were hoping that a friend would join us for a drink so we chose to eat in the bar again. The waiting staff had actually set us up at our usual table in the restaurant so had to move everything for us.
Rodders did stay under the table but spent a lot of his time with his nose peaking out from behind my legs! He did eventually curl up on snuggle fleece and go to sleep. OH had a steak and saved a tiny bit for Rodders along with some vegetables. OH came and sat with him while I nipped out to find out where our friend was. She was on her way but would still be a while so we decided to finish our drinks and let her join us back in our hotel room.

It had all been going so well
I have been pottering about this evening and it seems to have unsettled Rodders.
While I was stood at the dining table printing off and preparing for an interview tomorrow he came up and lay on his snuggle fleece beside me. Without making a sound he got up and moved to the patio door. As I turned around to see where he had gone he was mid piddle :-(
He got thrown out in to the garden while I cleared up and sprayed with stain and odour remover. He wasn't happy and kept barking to be let back in and I told him he had to wait. When I did let him in he slunk past me and wasn't sure where to go, he looked at his bed pad by the sofa and the snuggle fleece by the dining table but chose the rolled up carpet instead.
He is still there playing with his toys.

We have had a nice afternoon
After his fairly long snooze Rodders woke up and wanted to play. I was just about to take him for a walk to use up some of the surplus energy but it was chucking it down with rain so we stayed home.
We played fetch with his ball and hide and seek with his crisp packet for a while and I used this as a training exercise to get him to stop playing and to sit and wait before we started again. I then combed him through without too much messing about so Rodders got a treat for this.
We then had a snuggle on the sofa before he went off to play with his yoghurt pots. He heard Bob and Pat next door going out so wanted to go in to the garden and bark. When he wouldn't stop barking I made him come back in.
I spotted that he had a gunky eye so we had a bit of a battle while I sorted that out. I think he is learning that if I want to do something like his eyes or coat it is easier not to fight me too much because I am going to do it anyway.
He has been back out in to the garden a couple of times and the wind is getting up so he has been standing with his head in to it so his ears go flying out behind him, he looks so funny!
About 5pm he went in to the kitchen and barked and barked so I asked if he was hungry and he started prancing about so I let him have his supper. He has eaten about two thirds of his kibble so I may put it back down again later of he asks for it.
When I was in the kitchen peeling potatoes for my dinner he obviously thought it was carrots and just stood and barked at me. I was telling OH about this and he told me I was being mean and should let him have a carrot. So nice Mummy I am I went and got him the last carrot top and he ran off to the conservatory munching it.
As I sat down to eat my dinner Rodders settled on his snuggle fleece and fell asleep. He has now moved through to his bed pad by the sofa but he won't be there too long as OH is calling in on his way past.
After another play with me and his ball he decided to play with the curtains but did stop when asked.

Back home
On the way home I had a chat with OH as he was still on the way home. He had called in at mine earlier for a cuppa and a yoghurt (pot put down for Rodders) and had carried my bag upstairs for me.
We couldn't get parked anywhere last night so we ended up out the back at the garages against the back fence. I let Rodders off his lead as soon as we were through the gate and he had a piddle and then ran in the back door, up the stairs to check if anyone was here and then back down again to collapse on snuggle fleece.
I had to nip out to the car to bring in his bed pad and I left him inside. He did get up and amble to the back door but didn't make a sound.
He was very happy to have his bed pad and settled down straight away. He didn't move from there until bed time! We definitely have a cream crackered puppy tonight.

The adventure continues
Once OH was settled we slipped out the back again so we could bring in my bag and Rodders Car Crate - this is also used as his travel crate and he sleeps in here at night, or we hope he does!
Rodders and OH had a quick snuggle before we both changed for dinner and made our way over to the main club. We found a table in the bar and Rodders settled fairly quickly. I had taken a snuggle fleece and some treats just in case. Tuesday night in music night and there is a jazz trio in the restaurant, which we can hear from the bar, so it is always a little busy. Also, OH had been bragging about Rodders so the staff and regulars already knew all about him were all pleased to see him.
He spent most of the evening in the corner beside me but did move around under the table to check out OH and to have a look at people passing by us but he didn't make a sound.
When the band took a break I slipped out for a cigi with the bass player and left Rodders with OH. When I came back in there was quite a group around our table and Rodders was up having a cuddle. This is all good for him as he is still nervous around people.
The owner of the club knows us well as we have been staying here for several years and he was one of the group fussing Rodders. As he left for the evening he had a quiet word to say that Rodders is so good we are not to worry and to take up our usual table in the restaurant from now on! How brilliant is that!!!!!

Our second adventure
Mid afternoon Rodders and I headed out to the car to drive to Southamptin to spend the night with OH. I put Rodders new bed pad in the car crate and he seemed to love it, not a peep out of him in the car. After the problem we had the other night I also took his old bed too, hopefully we won't need it!
When we got to Southampton I let him have a run around the garden and a piddle before we made our way to reception. Luckily they know us very well at The Concorde Club and it didn't matter that OH wasn't there yet, we were let straight in to our room.
I popped straight out the back door to bring in Rodders old bed and his bag with treats, food, bowls, toys & snuggle fleece in so that I could get him settled fairly quickly. We were in a different room this time, closer to the doors and although Rodders was quite good he did bark whenever someone came through them, I was really worried that this would be a problem overnight.
Rodders had his supper and ate most of it.
I gave Rodders another good run around the garden on his extendable lead which he loves and he pooped so I cleaned that up. He also tried to chase the rabbits! Once we came back in he was happy to settle on snuggle fleece while I sat on the floor beside him with a cuppa. We stayed there until OH rang to say he was five minutes away.
I slipped on Rodders lead and we walked out the back and round to the car park. Rodders sat nicely while we waited and once he heard OH he was off to find him, he was so excited to see him and danced his way back inside.

A long evening with OH
OH got home just before 4pm. As soon as Rodders heard the back gate go he wanted out in to the garden. He started off barking but these soon turned to whimpers of delight as he saw who it was and he was soon dancing around OH's legs.
He couldn't wait for OH to get inside and pick him up for a snuggle and was so thrilled nice he was up in his arms. Rodders was snuggling in to his neck and beard and giving him a wash. It is so lovely to see them together.
Once Rodders settled a little OH put him down and they both headed upstairs for OH to get changed. Rodders appeared back downstairs with my slipper and ran straight back upstairs when I took it off him. He then came back down with OH for a play in the conservatory.
Once Rodders was tired out he came through to the lounge and climbed on to his bed pad for a snooze. OH was pottering about checking his emails and planning how to put up the Christmas Tree lights safely, we have to think about Rodders this year. I did wonder wether we should forego a tree this year but he needs to get used to them as they will be in any other house we visit at this time of year so we had better start at home.
I went through to start dinner and called Rodders through for the carrot tops. He loves these and spent a happy half hour munching through three of them. A little later I threw some of the plain chicken in to his bowl to mix with the kibble for tonights dinner. It does seem as though he clears his bowl when there is something other than kibble and tonight was no exception.
Once dinner was over and we had cleared up Rodders was happy to settle on his bed pad while we watched television. It really is cold today and it has taken a while for the house to heat up so I put one of his snuggle fleeces over him. He seemed quite happy to be snuggled up under it!

Flippin Fireworks in December
Rodders had a quick nap while I ate my dinner and then decided to roll on his back on one snuggle fleece while chewing another, he looked quite cute and I don't care what he does to his fleeces.
He then came up on my knee for a bit of a fuss and once he settled I moved him to his bed pad. He was quite happy snoozing until loud fireworks started going off around us. He barked at the first one, raised his head at the second and has ignored the rest!
