A quiet evening before going back to work

After a long walk and playing with Emily Rodders was exhausted and very happy to snooze on the bed pad.

He did come in to the kitchen with me for a little while when I cooked dinner but didn't hang about for long, the bed pad looked far more inviting than the cold kitchen floor!

Once I had eaten Rodders decided it was time for his supper and he could hardly wait as I weighed it out and filled his bowls. He was very good and sat and waited for me to put them down on the floor before tucking in.

He didn't even want to go out in the garden after supper and had to be woken up at bed time and taken out for a piddle. Once back inside he sat at the back door watching me as I locked up and switched out the lights. When I asked him to get in his bed he walked past me to try to get to his bed pad. I grabbed him and gave him a fuss before putting him in his crate for the night. He didn't make a sound as I went upstairs to bed.

Rodders didn't make any noise at all until I was in the bathroom this morning. As I came down stairs the barks turned to squeaks and he was happy to come out of his crate for a fuss before asking to go in the garden for a piddle. It really is evil put with a howling gale and driving rain so it looks as though we won't be going for a walk this morning.

When he came back in he wanted his breakfast and was dancing around the kitchen as I weighed it out and filled his bowls. He did sit and wait as I put them down and then ate it slowly.

He came up on the sofa for a little while before following me upstairs while I had a shower. He ran straight in to the bedroom to steal a sock and once that had been taken off him he played quite happily on the landing. When we came back downstairs he went out in to the garden to poop and was then playing with his toys until it was time to dry my hair and get dressed.

He sits really nicely on the bed while I dry my hair and potter about getting my clothes ready, even if he does sneakily steal my socks and then sit there as though butter wouldn't melt!

OH called as we came back downstairs and while we were talking Rodders wanted out in to the garden to play with the stones on the patio. Luckily as it was time to go to work OH got cut off and Rodders asked to come in!

Rodders knows the second I lock the patio door that someone is going out and he can tell if it includes him by the coat I put on. When he saw that it was not the dog walking coat he huffed a bit and then wandered off and wouldn't come near me. I got his new dental kong and got him interested in that so that I could catch hold of him and pop him in his crate with it. He is a good boy and once he is on there he just curls up and doesn't make a sound.

Shopping and a new friend

When we get back from a walk Rodders always seems to be energised and runs about playing for a while.

He did eventually settle down and had a rest on his bed pad for a little while before asking to go out in the garden. Once he came back in I put on my coat and told him that I needed to go out shopping and he needed to stay here and go in his bed. He wasn't happy and when I put his front feet in to the crate he tried to escape. I grabbed him and put all of him in the crate and he curled up as I locked it and said goodbye.

When I got back from Tesco he was obviously asleep as he didn't make a sound until I was in the kitchen and, when I let him out of the crate, his tummy was all warm and toasty.

After I had given him a fuss I started to put away the shopping and he was chasing about after me. He did try to stick his nose in the shopping bags but stopped when he was told no.

I hadn't been back very long when Kev called in with his daughter Emily who is home from Uni. It didn't take her and Rodders long to make friends and they sat on the floor playing with his toys for ages while Kev and I had a New year drink.

Emily is happy to walk Rodders if I need her to when she is home from Uni, wish I had known she was home for this week before I booked the dog walker!

Hmmm, that was odd

Rodders only got three meals today as he didn't wake up for his supper.

Just before 11pm Rodders woke up and asked to go in to the garden for a piddle so I decided it was bed time.  While he was out there he could hear people up the road making a noise and so he was barking at them.

When he came in he didn't want to go in to his bed and had to be encouraged in to the crate. No sooner was I upstairs and half undressed than he started barking. I was just about to come downstairs when he stopped so I carried on getting undressed and in to bed. Five minutes later he started again and wasn't showing any signs of stopping. Concerned in case his tummy was playing him up still I came down and let him in to the garden. He stood out there and barked and barked so I made him come in and put him back in his bed.

He was then quiet until about 7.30am. I came down and let him out in to the garden and then prepared his breakfast and my cuppa. I knew that OH would already be on the road so I gave him a call to see how he was doing.

I suddenly realised that the bin men were outside and I hadn't put my bin out. I left Rodders in the lounge and went and moved it to make sure it was emptied. Rodders wasn't happy and made a lot of noise about being left on his own.

Hmmm, wish I knew what was going on

Rodders wasn't sick again and he spent most of the afternoon and early evening playing both inside and out and really was quite lively, but he is barking a lot. I talked to OH about him and he wonders if giving him two bowls, one with kibble and one with the id diet will make a difference. I shall try this tomorrow rather than risk him being sick in the night. I did spot a mark on his fleece in his bed and wonder if he was sick in there in the night but ate it, would dogs do that? Anyway it had been washed and is hanging on the radiator to dry.

He barked for his tea and his supper and I just gave him the id diet, without any kibble. He wolfed it down as normal.

From about 8.30pm he slept on his bed pad until midnight when I woke him up to go out in the garden for a piddle.

I heard him give one bark about 3am and then he started barking for a piddle about 6.50am so I got up and came downstairs to let him out. He was very pleased to see me and wanted a fuss before being let in to the garden. The wind has got up overnight and it is blowing a gale out there and feels pretty cold.

When he came back in he was happy to come up on the sofa beside me but he wouldn't settle. His tummy seems very noisy again which isn't good. After about half an hour he wanted his breakfast so I weighed out 55g of id diet and 20g of kibble and put them in separate bowls. He wolfed down the id diet and had a little kibble before asking to go in the garden. When he came back in he ate the rest of the kibble.

He has been back in to the garden twice more and is now playing with his toys.

It's all go

We got back from the vets and I started to get everything ready to go away later in the day.

At 9.30am I popped Rodders back in to the car to nip to Puppy School to see Sam to explain that we can't do today's class as Rodders is poorly and, now I am working, we can't do the Friday class anymore so we will be back to the Saturday class in January. I also wanted to get Rodders a new choke chain. Sam checked and the only choke chain they had was a bit big for Rodders but we heeled around the room to make sure that he couldn't escape from it when it went slack. We had a chat about how he was doing and she can see how much more confident he is.

Back home I swapped jackets and put Rodders in his crate so that I could nip to Tesco as I needed some final bits to make dip - I would be sent home if I turned up at Christmas without it!

Rodders was a bit fed up of all the time I was spending in the kitchen making dip and he took himself off to his bed for a while. He was happier when I had finished and he came upstairs with me while I finished packing my bag. I started to bring down the bags of Christmas presents while he sat on the landing chewing my slipper.

He then wanted to go in the garden which meant that I could pack most of the car without worrying about him. Once he came in I took him for a quick walk around the neighbourhood while I delivered the last of the Christmas cards and then put him back in the lounge while I finished loading the car.

We managed to leave home just before 2pm and stopped at the pet shop at St Albans for some bits I had forgotten and then headed up the A1 towards Oakham. The weather was getting awful, what started as a cold morning had gone through drizzle and was now chucking it down with rain. At one point we were down  to 50mph as the spray was so bad. Then we found out that there was a problem on the A1 and we may need to divert off. Then the traffic news said the road was open and then, when we were almost beyond the point of no return, they changed their mind. Grrrr.

We found our way off the A1 and on to the A47 and got stuck behind someone that thought it was good to drive at between 35-45mph. By the time we got to Uppingham there was quite a daisy chain of frustrated drivers behind him. Luckily for me he turned left as I turned right. Three hours after setting off we eventually got to my big sisters!

While in the car I managed to talk to both my sisters and OH. Rodders wasn't bothered by that or the fact that he had been in the car for ages and he didn't make a sound all the way.

After we had said hello to my brother in law and Ailie I took Rodders in to the garden for a piddle while they emptied my car. Ailie had great fun putting all the presents under the tree and Rodders hasn't really paid them any attention at all. My sister was away having her hair done and got back about half an hour later.

I gave Rodders his tea about 5.30pm and then took him up the road for a walk and let him have a runabout on  his extendable lead. He kept getting bits of tree stuck in his legs and when this happens he just sits down until I remove it, bit difficult in the dark but we managed!

About 7.30pm my other two nieces arrived with a husband and a boyfriend. It was good to see them all together, I can't remember when that last happened. It was quite noisy and Rodders took a moment before he decided that he was happy with all these people around and then threw himself in to things and was getting lots of fuss. I made sure that everyone is aware that they cannot feed him anything because of his poorly tummy.

I tried to keep Rodders out of the kitchen while dinner preparation were afoot as he was trying to scavenge. We all sat down for dinner and Rodders was (mostly) on his snuggle fleece beside me. He did escape under the table a couple of times, I hope he didn't find anything to eat.

Once dinner was over I gave him his supper. He seems much happier of 75g and is taking a little longer to eat it.

There are so many people moving about that he found it hard to settle and probably didn't fall asleep on his bed pad until gone 10.30pm this evening. I will take him out in to the garden before bed, just not sure when that will be!

A better day

OH got up with Rodders this morning so I got a bit of a lie in. He sent Rodders up to wake me just before 6.30am and I came down for my cuppa and to give Rodders his breakfast. I then threw on my dog walking clothes just before OH left for work. Rodders didn't go out to the gate to say goodbye to OH this morning, he stood and watched from the patio until he heard the car go.

It is wet and miserable this morning so our walk was mainly on the roads on the estate with a short time on the very muddy and soggy rugby field.

I then had to wash and change for work. Rodders is such a good puppy but he doesn't understand why I am not giving him any treats and so he wouldn't walk in to his crate as normal and I had to lift him in. He still didn't make a sound.

At lunchtime I managed to get home, give Rodders a fuss, get him outside in the garden for a piddle, give him his lunch, make a cuppa and some toast for me, poop scoop the garden, give OH an update, play fetch with Rodders and put him back in his crate to be back at work in 45 minutes!

Tonight when I got home Rodders was more like his usual self and started to bark when he saw me. After a very quick fuss he wanted in to the garden for a long piddle and then went in to the kitchen to bark for his tea! After he had eaten and we had played for a little I went up to change and Rodders was running off with slippers and stealing socks from the laundry. OH called on his way to his hotel for the night and was pleased to hear that Rodders is feeling better and getting in to mischief.

I ate my tea while Rodders played on his own with his toys and then tried to keep him occupied as he kept going in to the kitchen and barking for food. When toys didn't seem to be working and he didn't want to be up on my knee or in the garden I put on my coat and his lead and we went out for a tramp around the streets for a little while.

I gave Rodders his supper at 8.30pm and after a trip to the garden he was happy to settle down next to me on the sofa. He wasn't too fussed when OH face timed us to say goodnight, after a quick listen and a glance he settled back down to sleep! It won't be too long before we go to bed.

Sunday night/Monday morning

Rodders played throughout most of the evening which is unusual but did settle on his bed pad eventually. At one point he asked to go out in to the garden three times in less than half an hour!

At bed time he didn't want to go out and tried to go straight in to his bed so I carried him out and put him on the grass. After a stretch he did go and have a piddle before almost running back in to go to his bed and wait for his treats while I locked up and switched out lights.

There wasn't a peep out of him until 5am this morning when he could hear the ADT van. It is a really frosty morning and it would seem that the guy had just left it running to defrost and Rodders wasn't happy with that so was barking. He was still a tired puppy and he didn't want to go in the garden so he and I settled on the sofa for another hour.

He heard another vehicle running and started to bark again but I was able to quieten him down by saying shh.

Once I got off the sofa he was happy to potter about playing and he asked to go in to the garden at about 6.15. I made a cuppa and sorted out his breakfast while he was outside.

The plan for this morning is to have my cuppa,  throw on my dog walking gear and take him up the rugby field before coming home for a shower. This is going to be my first morning at work, wonder how Rodders will react!

Saturday, 17 December 2011

Wow, what a good night and morning.

Rodders was fast asleep in his crate at midnight when I decided it was time to go to bed so I had to wake him up to go out for a piddle. He went all stiff legged on me and so I carried him out in to the garden and put him on the grass. He sat there for a second, had a stretch and then wandered off for a piddle. He then came straight back in and went to his bed and sat there while I locked up, switched out lights and got his treats ready. I shut him in the crate and went upstairs.

I slept through until 8am and there wasn't a sound from Rodders as I got up, used the bathroom and came downstairs. He was a very sleepy boy as I opened the crate and after a fuss went and lay down on the snuggle fleece by the radiator. Gradually he woke up and after I had made a cuppa asked to go in to the garden. He was out there for ages and had a piddle and a poop before going off to play.

By the time he had come in I had almost sorted out his chicken and rice but I had put it in the microwave to warm it a little and it was now too hot. I threw down a small handful of kibble and he wolfed that down. When I put the chicken and rice down he didn't seem interested to start with until I put a bowl of kibble beside it - he picked the chicken and rice!

After eating some of his breakfast he wanted to play with his toys for a while until I went upstairs to get washed and dressed. He came too and was happy to play in the bathroom and then sit on the bed.

Once we were back downstairs I popped his lead on and grabbed my coat so that we could walk up to the post box at the shops with the first batch of Christmas cards. It had started to rain a little but that didn't deter us. He was walking really nicely on the lead until we spotted another dog and he wanted to say hello. It was  a two year old poodle/bichon cross who seemed very friendly. They had a good sniff at each other and a little play before we parted company.

He was sitting and waiting as we stopped to cross roads and the only thing that seemed to spook him was a lady at the bus stop with an umbrella.

Back home he needed drying off with his towel as he was soaking and he then wanted to play so we got his ball out and played fetch for a while. He then wanted to attack the Christmas Tree but did stop with a very firm no. He has had this mornings tablet in a little lump of cheese and has eaten more chicken and rice.

I made another cuppa and came to sit down and he wanted up on my lap. Once he settled and fell asleep I moved him and snuggle fleece on to his bed pad at my feet. He seemed a little shivery so I have wrapped snuggle fleece around him.

Rodders doesn't like wrapping

I started to wrap the christmas presents after dinner this evening and Rodders wasn't very impressed.

First of all I went upstairs to move the presents I sorted last night so that I could get to the wrapping paper. Rodders decided he wasn't coming upstairs but as I was so long he came up to see what was going on. I brought the paper down and stood at the dining table and started to wrap the first bag of presents. To start with Rodders lay on a snuggle fleece by the lounge radiator, then he moved to the bed pad by the sofa and eventually in to his crate as that was as close to me as he could get.

I have been back upstairs to get another bag of presents to wrap and he stayed where he was, or I thought he did, but I have spotted a piddle on the door mat :-( It is now in the washing machine for the 2nd time this week.

I have now wrapped three people's gifts and think that is enough for tonight. I have just had a drink and we will be heading off to bed shortly.

A celebration!

To say congratulations on getting the new job and Happy Christmas OH wanted to take me out for dinner to our favourite restaurant to celebrate. Having heard how awful I sounded on the phone he wasn't sure if this was going to happen.

Once he came in and saw that I was feeling better he nipped out to the car for a change of clothes. Rodders was distraught at being left inside as OH hadn't said goodbye to him and he sat at the door barking and whinging. As soon as I spotted that OH was back in the garden and the gate was shut I let him Rodders out  and he was so happy to be chasing OH up the path.

The ironing people called in to collect my ironing and wanted to see Rodders so I brought him to the door for a fuss, he also had a sneaky bark at someone passing by.

We both went upstairs to get changed and Rodders realised that we were probably going out and leaving him behind. Once back downstairs he did come out in to the garden for a piddle and then came back in and was encouraged in to his crate with some treats.

I drove us down to the restaurant and we had a lovely meal with a bottle of wine before getting a cab back. It was so nice to see Alberto again, he always looks after us.

As the cab dropped us back home and we were walking up the path we could hear Rodeders barking. We got inside and let him out of the crate and he was desperate to get out in to the garden for a piddle.

I made a cuppa and then left Rodders and OH downstairs playing while I went to sort out the Christmas presents. Rodders ate more of his chicken and rice and had another drink. OH also gave his beard a wash, all this chicken and rice had made it a bit sticky. OH and I then had to make the bed and Rodders came up to help.

Getting ready for an interview

Rodders came upstairs with me while I had a shower and ate a kong full of kibble before deciding to chew the bath mat. He was very happy when I came out the shower and was squeaking from the minute I switched the water off, he does like to come in for a quick drink out the shower tray.

OH called for a chat and to let me know that he would probably be here before I got back. I wonder how Rodders will react to that! He also mentioned that he had to scrape the ice off his car this morning. I was sitting here all smug saying "we don't have a frost" as the grass wasn't crunchy under Rodder's feet and then I looked out the front. The cars are all covered in a thick frost :-(

He wasn't as well behaved as normal while I dried my hair today. He usually sits beside or behind me but today he was trying to climb on my knee and steal tissues out of my dressing gown pocket. I did stop what I was doing a couple of times so that I could give him a fuss, it is impossible to resist this gorgeous puppy!

He stayed on the bed while I got dressed and seemed to know that something wasn't right by the clothes I was putting on, no jeans and jumpers today. Once back downstairs I let him out in to the garden for a piddle before sitting him down to tell him that I was going out and he needed to go in his bed. I locked the door, put on my coat and got his treats. Once he knew that there were treats on offer he did climb in to his bed by himself. I locked the crate and said goodbye, not a peep from him.

A lazy afternoon

Once we were back home Rodders was happy to snooze on his bed pad and sit on my knee but wasn't very active until about 4pm when he started playing and wanted to go in and out of the garden several times.

While he was being fairly quiet I gave him a chew. These take him about half an hour to get through and he only gets about one a week, they are supposed to be good for his teeth.

I did manage to get him to sit still on my knee for about half an hour this afternoon and comb him through. He wasn't ever so happy about it but seemed to realise I wasn't going to stop until I was done.

I have put his toys in to his old plastic bed and put the new bed pad in his crate. He can't work out why the toys are in the bed and keeps taking them out one by one, especially if he is around when I put them back!

He has been running about the house with his yoghurt pots and ball and beating up teddy but most of his toys did get played with a little today.

Out in the garden he seems to love sitting or lying facing in to the wind and his ears get blown backwards. He just barks at it! He has also been digging and has been running between the tree and the patio.

OH called to say he was on his way and typically Rodders had just settled on my knee after two hours of activity when he came in through the back door. Rodders stood straight up on my knee with his front feet on the arm of the sofa barking like mad but with his tail wagging. He then changed from barks to whimpers of delight at soon as he realised who it was and wanted to get down. Just before I went to lift him down he decided he could do it himself and jumped from the sofa to the bed pad and then hopped off there and ran to OH. He jumped up to be lifted and was squeaking with pleasure as he gave OH a wash and nibbled his ears and beard.

Once Rodder settled they both went upstairs and Rodders appeared back with one of my slippers. When I took that off him he went back to get the other one! Once OH was changed they both came back down for a snuggle and play in the conservatory before OH helped me finish off dinner.

Our second adventure

Mid afternoon Rodders and I headed out to the car to drive to Southamptin to spend the night with OH. I put Rodders new bed pad in the car crate and he seemed to love it, not a peep out of him in the car. After the problem we had the other night I also took his old bed too, hopefully we won't need it!

When we got to Southampton I let him have a run around the garden and a piddle before we made our way to reception. Luckily they know us very well at The Concorde Club and it didn't matter that OH wasn't there yet, we were let straight in to our room.

I popped straight out the back door to bring in Rodders old bed and his bag with treats, food, bowls, toys & snuggle fleece in so that I could get him settled fairly quickly. We were in a different room this time, closer to the doors and although Rodders was quite good he did bark whenever someone came through them, I was really worried that this would be a problem overnight.

Rodders had his supper and ate most of it.

I gave Rodders another good run around the garden on his extendable lead which he loves and he pooped so I cleaned that up. He also tried to chase the rabbits! Once we came back in he was happy to settle on snuggle fleece while I sat on the floor beside him with a cuppa. We stayed there until OH rang to say he was five minutes away.

I slipped on Rodders lead and we walked out the back and round to the car park. Rodders sat nicely while we waited and once he heard OH he was off to find him, he was so excited to see him and danced his way back inside.

A whimper in the night

At bed time I took Rodders out in to the garden for a final piddle and he performed almost immediately, much better than the last couple of nights when he has sat there for ages.

Once he had finished he came back in and went straight to his bed pad, watching me as I locked up and switched out lights. Once I had his treats in my hand he was happy to come and climb in to his bed for the night and settled down straight away.

OH heard Rodders whimper at about 3am and then he started to bark at 5am so he got up and came down to him. He went straight out in to he garden for a poo and then a piddle, came back in for a quick snuggle and then wanted straight back out for another poo about five minutes later.

After that they had a snuggle on the sofa for a while but Rodders wouldn't let OH go back to sleep, each time he tried Rodders gave him a wash! He did also manage to help himself to a used tissue on the sofa, OH said it is a bit like a magician getting flags out of his mouth trying to remove a tissue from Rodders mouth, it seems to just keep on coming!

They had breakfast together before coming upstairs so that OH could have a shower and Rodders could check where I was. He jumped up at the side of the bed so I gave him a bit of a fuss and then heard OH call him to the bathroom so I rolled over for another snooze. What I didn't know until later was that Rodders hadn't gone to the bathroom, he had gone downstairs with my bra! He came back up as OH got out of the shower. As OH was drying himself off he could hear Rodders trying to get in to the laundry so came through to stop him.

Rodders came up on the bed with me while OH got dressed and was trying to get OH's socks when he wasn't jumping all over my head or trying to chew my hair. Once back down he disappeared downstairs with one of my shoes.

OH came downstairs as I went in to the bathroom and retrieved my shoe and threw my slippers back up to me, my laminate floors downstairs are cold so you always need something on your feet! Laminate is great when you have a puppy though, much easier to clean puddles up from than a carpet. Luckily he has only piddled on the landing carpet twice so far.

As OH was leaving Rodders went out to the gate with him but came running back inside when I called him. I think this is brilliant as he loves being with OH but knows that I am the boss!

Once OH had gone Rodders was happy to settle back down on his bed pad for a snooze.

Out for a couple of hours

I needed to go to the job centre this morning for 9am so I was washed and dressed fairly early. Rodders was up in the bedroom with me but disappeared downstairs with one of my slippers. He came back up but didn't want to come back down when I was ready. I was tapping the step below him with my hands and he same down a step at a time tapping me back! It worked and got him downstairs.

Rodders wasn't too happy about having to go in his bed but did climb in once he spotted treats. I shut him in his crate and walked away to silence.

I went to the job centre and then in to town to do some shopping and was out for over two hours. Just as I parked up outside I could see the postie at my door so I expected Rodders to be barking but he didn't make a sound until he saw me walk in to the lounge.

Whenever he has been left he is desperate for a fuss and wants up for a snuggle and makes all sorts of squeaky noises. He won't leave your side for about 10 minutes. He will then go off and play or ask to go in the garden.

A noisy morning

At 10.40 last night Rodders got up and went for a bit of a play in the conservatory and then asked to go in to the garden for a piddle so I took the opportunity to go to bed.

After I had locked up and switched out the lights he had to be shown his treats before he would climb in to bed. Once I locked the crate he didn't make a sound.

I took ages to get off to sleep and was woken by Rodders at about 5.40am. I left him for five minutes but he wasn't quietening down so I got up and came down stairs, After a fuss he went straight to the lounge door to try and get upstairs but I had closed it. As I went to put the kettle on he asked to go in to the garden for a piddle. He came back in for five minutes and then asked to go back out again. He has been in and out quite a lot so far today and has obviously been digging by the amount of mud on his feet and beard.

He has played inside with his toys, chasing them up and down the lounge but has also tried to chew things he shouldn't.

As more people are now out and about outside he has started barking at the noise of them scraping the ice off their cars.

Rodders hasn't shown any interest in his breakfast at all today yet.

What a funny puppy!

I was cream crackered last night so at 10.30 I took Rodders out for a final piddle. It now seems to be the norm to sit on the grass for a few minutes before going for a piddle but I suppose that is OK if you have been woken up and taken out in to the cold.

Once back in Rodders sat on snuggle fleece while I locked up, switched out lights and got his treats ready and then climbed in to the crate and then his bed. I locked him in and said goodnight.

At about 5.15am he started his whingy noises and I rolled over and went back to sleep.  At 6.40am he was barking a little but not desperate or continually so I left him a little longer and came downstairs at 6.45am. He came out of his crate for a fuss and then ran straight upstairs to check all the bedrooms. I followed him up and he was just checking if OH was in our bed. He was then happy to follow me downstairs and went in to the garden.

I thought he would be desperate for a piddle but he went straight to the drain and was trying to reach something in there, nothing would encourage him away. By this stage I was convinced that he must have wet his bed or had a piddle upstairs so went to check, no, nothing anywhere.

He eventually asked to come in and has been running about playing with his toys and asked to come up for a snuggle. Bur he is a bundle of energy and soon wanted down. I started to unpack his bag from yesterday and he heard his food bag and started to bark so I sorted out his breakfast. He ate half of it and then asked to go in to the garden for a poo and a sniff about and his just come back in to grab a drink and eat some more before dashing off to play in the conservatory.

An early start again

My sister and I sat watching Peter Kay night on channel 4 until almost 11.30pm so it was a late night, Rodders spent most of the evening asleep on his bed pad. Rodders wasn't impressed when we went out to the garden for a final piddle as it was chucking it down with rain and, rather than getting on with it, the silly puppy sat on the grass for ages. After about 5 minutes he tried to head back indoors but came back and had a piddle when I asked him to.

When we came in he sat on snuggle fleece waiting for me to lock up, switch out lights and get his treats ready and needed a bit of encouragement to get in to his bed.

I first heard him barking at 5.45am and left him for a few minutes but he wasn't settling so I got up and came down to let him out. Rather than try to put him back in his crate and risk disturbing my sister I let him up on the sofa and the pair of us slept until 7.30am when we heard Sue in the bathroom.

He seemed to know that there was something going on this morning and wouldn't eat his breakfast. I managed to get washed and dressed, pack Rodders a bag of treats, food, toys, towel and bowl and be ready to leave in an hour. Good job my sister can look after herself and helped herself to breakfast!

Home from puppy school

We got back from puppy school and sorted out the freezer, as expected some of the stuff in the freezer box had started to defrost so I stuck them in a bin bag to go to the tip later. Rodders was happy wandering about the passage most of the time but did ask to go out in the garden for a while.

Once that job was done I made something to eat and got Rodders his lunch. He only ate half of it and then went to lay down for a snooze so I took the opportunity to put him in his bed with some treats and nipped to the tip and Tesco.

I timed it very badly and had to queue at the tip while they swapped skips so that took almost half an hour. Luckily I only needed three things in Tesco so I was only out for just over an hour in total.

Rodders was quiet when I left and quiet when I arrived home. As I let him out of the crate he wanted up for a fuss, OH rang just at that moment and could hear him squeaking down the phone.

Another reasonable night

At 11pm last night I woke Rodders up to go out in to the garden for a piddle. He wanted to come straight back in  but I made him stay out until he had performed as required. He then came back in and went straight to bed.

I locked up, switched off lights and got his treats, locked the crate and said goodnight.

Not a peep until 5.11am this morning. I came down, let him out in to the garden for a piddle and then told him it was bed time and out him back in his bed with a treat. As I climbed back in to bed there was one whinge and I thought I had cracked it. Five minutes later there was some whingy barking for a few minutes and then he settled back down until 6.48am when he wanted out for a poo.

Once he was back in he spotted two of his snuggle fleeces on the radiator drying, they had been there since last night when they came out the washing machine and he hadn't even noticed! He has dragged one off the radiator but the other is still there, for now!

I have checked the freezer and it still isn't defrosted so I have put more hot water in there to help the process and will check it again in an hour.

Rodders then started dancing about the kitchen so I got his breakfast, he had two mouthfuls and then came away. He wanted up for a fuss and fell asleep on my knee so I have transferred him to his new bed pad on the floor.
