After I showered and dressed OH called in to see us for an hour. As he arrived I was putting on some washing and Rodders was playing in the conservatory. He didn't hear the back door until almost the last moment but was thrilled to see who it was and wanted straight up for a snuggle. We all ended up having a group hug as I think it was the only way I was going to get to say hello too!
OH and I had a cuppa and a bit of breakfast and then he had a play with Rodders while I brought the bin back in. OH and I then popped upstairs to fit my new cool pad to my bed in the hope that it helps me to sleep better. Finally we all had a snuggle on the sofa before it was time for OH to go. As OH and I had a hug goodbye Rodders was making some strange noises, I think he is getting a bit jealous.
As normal Rodders trotted out to the gate with OH but when I called him back he got halfway and stopped for a piddle. OH managed to get out the gate safely which is the main thing. Rodders stayed out there for a little while sniffing about and squeaking a bit. I don't think he had heard OH's car go as he parked somewhere different today.
I emptied & reloaded the washing machine and Rodders chased his toys about.
Once my hair was dry I put on my dog walking gear and got one of my new hat and glove sets ready so that we could head to Gadebridge Park. Rodders was very excited to be going out and was jumping up. I managed to get him to sit and wait at the door and walked him to the car.
Once parked I got him out the car and put his lead back on. As we were walking to the edge of the park two ladies with three dogs were coming off. Their dogs started barking and so Rodders joined in, they seemed to be giving us a wide berth so I didn't let Rodders say hello to them.
As we got to the park I made him sit and swapped to the extendable lead so that he could have more freedom. He was very happy running about and he got to meet many dogs that were off the lead. Rodders wanted to run off and play with some of them and wasn't happy to be on his lead. Luckily some of them were happy to play with him and he got to run about with a Golden Retriever and a Chocolate Lab amongst others.
Rodders was very good at coming when called and he was happy to just sit and watch what was going on about him several times. We walked our way around the whole park and the only time he was a little nervous was when some children came past us on bikes and scooters. He wasn't bothered by a young lad in a wheelchair, even when he asked if he was Toto from the wizard of Oz. Rodders had a good look at the River Gade and looked as though he might try to go in there at one point but he saw another dog which distracted him. As we got back to where we started he sat while I swapped leads again so that we could walk to the car.
As we were about to get in the car he spotted a Staffie pup and wanted to play. It looked like a smaller version of Molly from Puppy Party and was called Fletcher. They started off sniffing each other but it was obvious that Fletcher wanted to play. When Fletcher got a bit rough Rodders put him in his place by barking at him, when Fletcher tried again Rodders let him play for a little while and then growled at him. The couple with him were not very happy about it but I explained that they were just playing and working out where the boundaries are and both dogs had their tales up. After a little while we parted company and I put Rodders back in his car crate.
Once we were back home I gave Rodders his lunch and after a bit of a play and a trip to the garden he was happy to have a snooze.
He woke up with the devil in him and, as well as playing with his toys, he was up to all sorts of mischief. The door stop kept being dragged across the floor and then he started to take the washing off the radiator. He was found chewing the door mat at the back door when I thought he was playing quietly with his bone.
He was in and out of the garden and it was nice to hear him playing with the stones on the patio again. I don't think he has done this properly for almost two weeks.
He is barking a lot today and it is sometimes difficult to work out why. I really hope my neighbours can't hear him or don't mind too much.
Just got Rodders, a miniature schnauzer puppy and wanted to document our journey together. Never had a puppy or a blog before so this could be interesting!

Such a happy puppy (& Maty)
OH rang to see how we were doing today and I was part way through updating him when he said "you had better out the kettle on". I asked where he was as I walked in to the kitchen and spotted him pulling up outside the back gate. I have told him during the week that Rodders was missing him and would go nuts when he saw him next and I wasn't wrong.
Rodders had followed me through to the kitchen and was sniffing about my feet when the back door went. He barked twice as he dashed towards the door and then his tone changed to squeaks of delight and he wanted up for a snuggle where he stayed for ages. Rodders looked so happy to see OH, it showed in every little bit of him.
Eventually OH managed to put him down and I got a hug hello, Rodders wasn't sure about that at all and gave the odd strangled bark. OH told him not to be so stupid.
From then on Rodders followed OH everywhere he went as he pottered about doing things and didn't want to leave his side. I had a really heavy box in the car and OH went to get it for me and I thought Rodders was going to actually cry. You would have thought that OH had been away for hours rather than a few minutes by the greeting he got when he came back in the door.
I took the opportunity to go upstairs and have a bath and get dressed in peace. When I came back downstairs they were both cuddled up on the sofa. I left them to it and went outside to poop scoop so that I could check they looked OK before calling the vets with an update. Rodders didn't like me being outside without him and wanted down. He greeted me at the door squeaking.
I rang the vet and explained what I have been doing and how Rodders is. They will pass the message on to Roger and give me a call back if they need to. Him eating from two bowls is fine, as long as it works.
OH needed some help with his year end accounts which we sorted out and then I made us some lunch and then gave Rodders his in two bowls. So far, everything he has had today has stayed put which is great. We then all sat, cuddled up on the sofa, watching television for a while until it was time for OH to go. Rodders went to the gate with him and then came back when called.
Both of us are so much happier for our surprise visit!

Back to the vets
OH was up with Rodders at 6am and I came down at 6.30am. Rodders hadn't had his breakfast yet so I sorted that out and then made OH some toast.
Rodders went upstairs with OH when he went for a shower and then came down with the bath mat to go in the washing machine, well he got it to the bottom of the stairs but needed help to get it any further. This is the third load of washing in 12 hours as we have done his towels and fleeces so they are clean for going away.
Once OH was ready for work we had a cuddle and said goodbye, for once Rodders seemed to be jealous and was barking at us. OH gave him a fuss too. Rodders went out to the gate with OH and came back to the patio when I called him. The little monkey then thought better of it and was heading back to the gate, luckily OH spotted him and shut the gate very quickly.
Rodders and I had a snuggle before we went upstairs so that I could get washed and dressed as we needed to head off to the vet for Rodders check up.
I am so lucky that Rodders likes going to the vets and he trots in there quite happily, barking as he goes so that everyone knows that he is there. He was very happy to see that Nicci was there but not so happy that she didn't give him any liver treats. We sat in the waiting room for a little while and then Roger called us in.
We talked through how Rodders has been over the last few days and the fact that he seems to be starving. Roger admitted that we have given him the absolute minimum to eat so he wasn't surprised by this. We weighed Rodders and he is back to 4.6k so he has lost weight over the last few days and is back where he was when we weighed him last week. Roger checked him over and seems happy with him but, because it is Christmas and we are going away, he wants to keep him on the i.d. diet until next Wednesday before re-introducing kibble slowly (75/25% on Wednesday, 50/50 Thursday and 25/75 on Friday) but if there are any signs that it is upsetting him we need to go straight back to the i.d. diet. We can also increase him to 75g per meal. And no treats at all for at least 2 weeks but, once he is back on kibble, I can use some of this to use as treats. I also need to call on Thursday to let them know how he is doing.
I mentioned his choke chain and Roger says that he would have been able to cut it off if necessary but he is obviously a growing boy and we need to get a bigger one. It iOS difficult to say how much bigger his head will get.
We left the consulting room and Rodders got lots of fuss from the girls while I was paying the bill and collecting his food. I also picked up a different slicker brush that looks like it will be gentler on him. Once we were back in the car we called OH to let him know how we got on.

A better day
OH got up with Rodders this morning so I got a bit of a lie in. He sent Rodders up to wake me just before 6.30am and I came down for my cuppa and to give Rodders his breakfast. I then threw on my dog walking clothes just before OH left for work. Rodders didn't go out to the gate to say goodbye to OH this morning, he stood and watched from the patio until he heard the car go.
It is wet and miserable this morning so our walk was mainly on the roads on the estate with a short time on the very muddy and soggy rugby field.
I then had to wash and change for work. Rodders is such a good puppy but he doesn't understand why I am not giving him any treats and so he wouldn't walk in to his crate as normal and I had to lift him in. He still didn't make a sound.
At lunchtime I managed to get home, give Rodders a fuss, get him outside in the garden for a piddle, give him his lunch, make a cuppa and some toast for me, poop scoop the garden, give OH an update, play fetch with Rodders and put him back in his crate to be back at work in 45 minutes!
Tonight when I got home Rodders was more like his usual self and started to bark when he saw me. After a very quick fuss he wanted in to the garden for a long piddle and then went in to the kitchen to bark for his tea! After he had eaten and we had played for a little I went up to change and Rodders was running off with slippers and stealing socks from the laundry. OH called on his way to his hotel for the night and was pleased to hear that Rodders is feeling better and getting in to mischief.
I ate my tea while Rodders played on his own with his toys and then tried to keep him occupied as he kept going in to the kitchen and barking for food. When toys didn't seem to be working and he didn't want to be up on my knee or in the garden I put on my coat and his lead and we went out for a tramp around the streets for a little while.
I gave Rodders his supper at 8.30pm and after a trip to the garden he was happy to settle down next to me on the sofa. He wasn't too fussed when OH face timed us to say goodnight, after a quick listen and a glance he settled back down to sleep! It won't be too long before we go to bed.

Sorry for being missing in action
Yesterday was quite a day and it started early.
OH got up with Rodders and woke me almost straight away to say that he had been sick in his bed. I came down as he was trying to clear it up but it was obvious that the bed pad was going to have to go in the washing machine as it was covered in undigested rice, he had also wet it. Rodders seemed OK, if a little sorry for himself, he still wanted to play and spend time in the garden. I took him for a quick walk up the rugby field and he was happy enough running about.
He was also hungry so, rather than chicken and rice which he A) didn't seem to be enjoying or B) fully digesting I gave him the smallest handful of kibble I could. He wolfed it down. He also wanted a carrot top while I was peeling vegetables ready to go in the slow cooker later.
When OH went off to work he wanted to go out to the gate as usual and came back when I called him.
I spoke to OH in the car after I had got ready for work and he reassured me that Rodders would be fine. I was concerned about him not having any water so while I was chatting I was googling for a water bowl that we can fit to the crate. I found one on Amazon and ordered it straight away, it should be here in a couple of days.
I was worried about leaving him to go to work but he seemed happy enough to go in to his crate with the other bed pad and some treats. I couldn't wait to get home at lunchtime and he was quiet when I walked in the door until he spotted me when he started squeaking. He had been sick again and had tried not to do it on his bed so it was mainly on the floor outside the crate. I took him in to the garden for a piddle and so I could check his poo from this morning - loose but not too runny. When we came back in I cleaned up the sick and turned the bed pad over as the first one wasn't yet dry and rang OH to let him know. He suggested I called the vets for advice.
I chatted to the vets and they brought his check up forward from tomorrow to tonight which would mean leaving work earlier, not the best thing during my first week but it can't be helped. The vet also suggested that I gave him a very small meal as they don't recommend starving puppies, and to make sure he still had water available.
I came off the phone and made him up a small amount of chicken and rice. The little monkey ate the chicken and left most of the rice. I managed to squeeze his water bowl in to the crate and Rodders drank from it straight away. He still wanted to play and have a fuss.
I also managed to put tonights dinner in the slow cooker but had to forego lunch as I just didn't have time, good job I had a bag of crisps earlier!
I had to leave him and go back to work and, the little star that he is, he went back in to his crate without any problems.
After finishing work at 4.30 I came straight home to find that he had been a little sick again and had managed to get most of it outside his crate. After clearing up and letting him in to the garden for a piddle I threw the bed pad in the washing machine and we went off to the vets. Luckily the bed pad washed earlier was dry so could go in to the car crate.
Rodders was his usual self in the vets and wanted to talk to everyone that was there. When I made him sit and wait he just barked his please let me play bark! After about 5 minutes we got called in to see the vet and he was very thorough and asked lots of questions as he was examining Rodders. He also weighed him and he is now 4.9k, so he has put on weight in the last week. He told me that his tummy was very noisy, so obviously upset about something. Again Rodders had to have the anti sickness injection and we have come away with more in tablet form for the next 4 days, more antibiotics and some special dog food. He isn't allowed anything else, no treats, no carrots, just this and water and he needs to be checked over again on Friday, earlier if I am worried. I am also to wait at least an hour before giving him anything to make sure the anti sickness injection works. We sat in the waiting room while they got the medicine and food ready and then paid the bill. Rodders was playing with one of the members of staff that he knows from puppy party, trying to attack her feet under the desk!
I rang OH, who was on his way home, as soon as we got out the vets to let him know how we got on. We are both so worried about the little fella.
Once home we put the 2nd bed pad on the bathroom radiator to dry and sat and had a snuggle until OH was home. After giving Rodders a fuss we needed to go shopping so that OH could get Rodders some Christmas presents. We had a great time in Pets at Home, Rodders loves it in there and OH hasn't brought him any presents before so he went a little nuts! This really is one spoilt puppy!
We also stopped at the little Tesco to grab some bits for dinner. I left Rodders and OH in the car and came out to find them in the Car Park. OH needed to use the hole in the wall so we walked him around a little before putting him back in the crate.
As Rodders has been poorly on both bed pads he was allowed his new bed early. OH took the labels off and put it in the crate. It is a very posh bed pad with a fleece topper that attaches with press studs and OH also bought a spare topper. It is exactly the right size for the crate and Rodders seems to like it.
I gave Rodders his antibiotic and measured out the special food. he is to have 50 grammes, 4 times a day. It looks such a little amount in his bowl. He was obviously hungry as it disappeared in seconds.
Oh went upstairs to do his Christmas wrapping as I finished off dinner. Rodders was running between us and seemed to be helping OH with his wrapping from the comments I could hear! I shouted for him to come down as I put dinner on the table. Rodders pottered about as we ate. Once we were finished OH went back up to finish wrapping and I cleared the table.
When we were all done OH played with Rodders for a while before I gave him his 2nd feed and then we settled down to watch some TV before bed.
Rodders had been in and out the garden all evening and went out again with me before bed. It was hard putting him in his crate without any treats but he didn't complain. He is such a good puppy.

Rodders loves OH
When OH got home tonight Rodders had just settled down after running around like a lunatic since I got home from work.
As soon as he heard the back door go he went flying towards it barking, this soon changed to squeaks of delight and he was desperate to get up for a snuggle. OH had been in the car a while and needed the bathroom but Rodders wasn't having any of it, he was getting his snuggle first whatever!
Snuggle and bathroom visit over OH needed to go back out to empty the car but Rodders wanted up again and was snuggled in to OH's chest. After a few minutes I took Rodders from him so that he could get back outside. Rodders stayed in my arms for a whole two minutes and then started to wriggle and made it clear he wanted down. He then ran straight to the back door and wanted to go out and find OH but I couldn't let him until the gate shut. Rodders kept making a strange strangulated bark and was getting more agitated as I said wait. As soon as the gate was shut I let him out and he ran to OH and then danced his way around OH's feet back to the door.
He and OH then went upstairs so that OH could get changed and, if you saw the earlier post, you will see that Rodders brought both of his slippers down at the same time.
While all this was going on I was trying to make dinner, shame I forgot the garlic bread was in the oven as the rest of dinner was fine! Rodders also got a little more chicken and rice as he had wolfed down the last lot.
After dinner OH made a cuppa as I cleared up and then it was time for some boy time. They played fetch for a while and then OH lay down on the floor so Rodders could jump all over him - they seem to love doing this. Eventually Rodders climbed on top of him for a rest.
I think that the feeling is mutual!

A celebration!
To say congratulations on getting the new job and Happy Christmas OH wanted to take me out for dinner to our favourite restaurant to celebrate. Having heard how awful I sounded on the phone he wasn't sure if this was going to happen.
Once he came in and saw that I was feeling better he nipped out to the car for a change of clothes. Rodders was distraught at being left inside as OH hadn't said goodbye to him and he sat at the door barking and whinging. As soon as I spotted that OH was back in the garden and the gate was shut I let him Rodders out and he was so happy to be chasing OH up the path.
The ironing people called in to collect my ironing and wanted to see Rodders so I brought him to the door for a fuss, he also had a sneaky bark at someone passing by.
We both went upstairs to get changed and Rodders realised that we were probably going out and leaving him behind. Once back downstairs he did come out in to the garden for a piddle and then came back in and was encouraged in to his crate with some treats.
I drove us down to the restaurant and we had a lovely meal with a bottle of wine before getting a cab back. It was so nice to see Alberto again, he always looks after us.
As the cab dropped us back home and we were walking up the path we could hear Rodeders barking. We got inside and let him out of the crate and he was desperate to get out in to the garden for a piddle.
I made a cuppa and then left Rodders and OH downstairs playing while I went to sort out the Christmas presents. Rodders ate more of his chicken and rice and had another drink. OH also gave his beard a wash, all this chicken and rice had made it a bit sticky. OH and I then had to make the bed and Rodders came up to help.

A lively puppy
As I walked in the door I could hear Skevi talking to Rodders and then I heard him running down the room towards me. He was very happy to have me back and wanted up for a snuggle.
When Skevi got there he wasn't very sure about coming out of his crate and she had to bribe him out with treats. By the time I got home he was happy enough chasing the swiffer!
I rang the agency to let them know how I had got on with Rodders on my knee having a fuss. We are hopeful that we will have a decision overnight. My fingers are firmly crossed!
Skevi and I had a catch up. Her little one has now found out that he can get out of his cot so she needs to buy a stair gate to make sure he is safe upstairs. We already have a spare one in the loft so I will get OH to get it down for her to pick up when she is passing.
Rodders was happy to chase her about downstairs and once she moved upstairs he and I had a bit of a play until he wanted to settle down for a snooze with me.
He was still up on the sofa, on snuggle fleece, beside me when she left.

A friend comes to see us
I got up and came downstairs as OH went up for a shower. While he was in the bathroom we both heard a strange noise and shot to the stairs. Rodders has taken to standing at the top and throwing one of his toys down, he then runs down to collect it and starts again! He does the same with slippers too but they don't make quite the same noise.
Once OH was showered and dressed he was ready to go off to work. Rodders went out to the gate with him but came running back when I called him.
He was happy to lie on his bed pad for a snooze while I was on the computer and he came upstairs with me when I went to get washed and dressed.
My bestest friend is here from America and we were expecting a visit. As she pulled up outside the postie was there too and Rodders was barking hello. I put him down as I went to the door and he decided to be shy and backed away as she came in. She was excited to see him as she had brought him a present - an amazing present! A whole turkey dinner on a plate but all soft toys and buggy type things! We took the plastic dome covering off it and left it on the floor. One by one he came and took each item: A turkey, a baked potato, a sweetcorn, some bread and some greens. He absolutely loves it!
She and I sat about gossiping and drinking tea for a while but, although he was happy to take gifts from her, Rodders was keeping his distance. She needed to do a bit of shopping so Rodders got put in his crate for a while so that we could go out.
Once back he was a little better with her and she managed to give him some treats while I cooked lunch. As we ate Rodders sat on snuggle fleece at my feet until he asked to go out in to the garden. While he was out there a hail storm started and he came running back in. Once it was over he asked to go back out and had a great time eating the build up of ice on the door step. I also spotted that he has been digging in the stones to the left of the door so he now realises that the stones go round three sides of the patio!
All too soon it was time to say goodbye to her. Just before she left Rodders did approach her and allowed her to fuss him. I am so pleased, this is one person we don't get to see very often but she is a very special friend and it is important that Rodders likes her too!

Christmas Tree shopping with OH
On the way home I got a call from my best friend. She was on her way in to London and needed me to pay her congestion charge for her. I said I would ring her back as soon as I was home.
When I got home Rodders was so excited, first OH and then me! He was squeaking with pleasure and wanted to be with both of us at once. Apparently he heard OH open the gate and started to bark.
We both needed to get changed and I needed to get tonights dinner in the slow cooker and start the pan of soup for lunch. Rodders was up and down the stairs chasing us. We also had to get the Christmas decorations out of the loft and Rodders isn't too keen on anyone being up a ladder so he was barking a bit. He didn't seem too bothered by all the strange boxes being put in to the spare bedroom though and just gave them a cursory sniff. I also remembered to call my pal back and sort out her congestion charge.
Once we were done and he had been out in to the garden for a piddle it was time to go back in his crate so that we could go shopping. This is the first time that he has had to go back in there after a short period of freedom but it will be good practice if I go back to work. This time I gave him a puppy tubos as a special treat, he hasn't had one of these before and I hoped that it would keep him amused for a little while as it is much bigger than his normal treats.
We headed off to Homebase for some tinsel and to the sorting office for the parcel before heading out to the Christmas Tree Farm. We have been buying our tree's here for many years and they always have great tree's and do us a good deal. They are ex irish travellers and always have horses, dogs and children about. We found the perfect tree and, once it was put through the wrapper, we were soon on our way home.
OH propped the tree up at the corner of the conservatory and then we let Rodders out of his crate. He hadn't made a sound although I know he was watching us come in. After a quick fuss we let him out in to the garden. He went and sniffed the tree and then started to eat the wrapper!

Left him to go shopping!
Rodders was ready for a snooze eventually so I asked him to go in to his crate. He can tell when I am going to go out, he starts to squeak as I lock the back door and if the dog walking coat doesn't go on he the squeaks turn in to moans of disgust! That said, he did go in to his crate without complaining. It was probably the treats.
I headed off to Tesco and spent a fortune but I have enough meat for at least this month, a spag bol kit for the freezer and some stuff to make soup with for tomorrow so I should only need to buy bread, milk and fresh vegetables until January. I knew that I would not get all the shopping in to the house in one go so I pulled up at the back and dropped it just inside the back gate before parking at the front and coming in.
I am not sure if Rodders heard the back gate but as soon as I came in the front door he started to bark. I let him out of his crate and he was squeaking and rolled straight on to his back for a tummy rub and then wanted to come up for a snuggle. Once he settled a little I opened the back door and we went to bring in the shopping. He was dancing in front of me and nearly tripped me up.
He was trying to bite the bags so I chucked him out the kitchen behind the baby gate and gave him a dentastik chew to keep him quiet. He gets through about three quarters of them before he gets bored but it does give me a bit of peace if there is something I need to do.

OH pops in
OH popped in for a cuppa and a quick snuggle with Rodders to break up his journey home.
Rodders was fast asleep on his bed pad and didn't hear anything until OH was almost in the door. He ran off towards the conservatory barking but stopped and started squeaking as soon as he realised who it was. He adores OH and was jumping up to be lifted for a snuggle. OH obliged and Rodders was soon giving him a quick wash and snuggling in to his beard.
I made a cuppa and we all went through to the conservatory where Rodders was happy to be up on OH's chest for a while. He then wanted down for a little while before coming to sit on me.
OH went up to use the bathroom and Rodders couldn't wait to get off my knee and run after him. When they came back down it was time for OH to go. Rodders was rooting around the back of the rolled up carpet so OH went to check why. One half chewed carrot top! He made Rodders sit and wait before he gave it him back.
As Rodders had the carrot he didn't seem too bothered that OH disappeared out the door. Five minutes later when he realised he wasn't coming back he asked to go out and went straight to the gate to check before coming back to the grass for a piddle and back in the house.
He has had a mad few minutes running up and down playing and has given Teddy a seeing too but has now come to sit on his bed pad.

A good night
At 10.30pm I took Rodders out in to the garden for a final piddle which he did after a short sit on the grass and a look about! It was flipping freezing and still very windy.
When Rodders came in he tried to go back to the bed pad by the sofa but OH encouraged him in to his crate and he settled on his bed pad as I gave him his treats.
We locked up, switched out lights and said goodnight. Once we were upstairs Rodders whimpered a couple of times, probably because we were talking and the lights were still on. This is brilliant as it is the first night he has slept on his new bed pad in the crate.
OH had an early start so he came down stairs just after 5am and woke Rodders up. Rodders was desperate to get out the lounge and upstairs to me but OH made him stay in the lounge. They usually have a snuggle on the pappasan chair in the conservatory after Rodders has been out for a piddle but OH was sitting at the dining table this morning. Rodders went and sat by the pappasan chair and made it clear that he wasn't happy! Rodders did also go out in the garden for a poo.
OH says that it won't be long before Rodders is able to jump on to the sofa and he can already reach some of the things I leave on there, like the TV gismo.
When OH was ready to get showered and dressed he let Rodders upstairs and he was soon jumping up at the side of the bed to say hello before disappearing off with one of my shoes, he doesn't seem to chew them and just carries them downstairs.
Rodders also tried to get something out of the laundry but OH stopped him and he never tries again if OH tells him off. If only I had that effect!
We all came downstairs as OH was ready to go and Rodders wanted to go out with him, but came back from the gate like a rocket when I called him. He was then happy to settle down on his bed pad and has been there almost ever since, even when I have been up to the bathroom or outside to put the bin out.
He has had a short play with a yoghurt pot but hasn't shown any interest in other toys or his breakfast and it is almost time for me to get washed and dressed so we can go to puppy school.

Back home
On the way home I had a chat with OH as he was still on the way home. He had called in at mine earlier for a cuppa and a yoghurt (pot put down for Rodders) and had carried my bag upstairs for me.
We couldn't get parked anywhere last night so we ended up out the back at the garages against the back fence. I let Rodders off his lead as soon as we were through the gate and he had a piddle and then ran in the back door, up the stairs to check if anyone was here and then back down again to collapse on snuggle fleece.
I had to nip out to the car to bring in his bed pad and I left him inside. He did get up and amble to the back door but didn't make a sound.
He was very happy to have his bed pad and settled down straight away. He didn't move from there until bed time! We definitely have a cream crackered puppy tonight.

A long evening with OH
OH got home just before 4pm. As soon as Rodders heard the back gate go he wanted out in to the garden. He started off barking but these soon turned to whimpers of delight as he saw who it was and he was soon dancing around OH's legs.
He couldn't wait for OH to get inside and pick him up for a snuggle and was so thrilled nice he was up in his arms. Rodders was snuggling in to his neck and beard and giving him a wash. It is so lovely to see them together.
Once Rodders settled a little OH put him down and they both headed upstairs for OH to get changed. Rodders appeared back downstairs with my slipper and ran straight back upstairs when I took it off him. He then came back down with OH for a play in the conservatory.
Once Rodders was tired out he came through to the lounge and climbed on to his bed pad for a snooze. OH was pottering about checking his emails and planning how to put up the Christmas Tree lights safely, we have to think about Rodders this year. I did wonder wether we should forego a tree this year but he needs to get used to them as they will be in any other house we visit at this time of year so we had better start at home.
I went through to start dinner and called Rodders through for the carrot tops. He loves these and spent a happy half hour munching through three of them. A little later I threw some of the plain chicken in to his bowl to mix with the kibble for tonights dinner. It does seem as though he clears his bowl when there is something other than kibble and tonight was no exception.
Once dinner was over and we had cleared up Rodders was happy to settle on his bed pad while we watched television. It really is cold today and it has taken a while for the house to heat up so I put one of his snuggle fleeces over him. He seemed quite happy to be snuggled up under it!

Rodders & OH
There is no doubt that OH loves Rodders, who else would give up so much sleep for him? I know that he does it as he loves me too and knows what a grouch I am if I don't get my sleep, but he also does it because he loves Rodders. Luckily it is a mutual appreciation society!
Rodders adores him and, when I put him on the bed when I am here on my own with him, the first thing he does is goes to OH's side of the bed and has a good sniff, to breathe him in.
When OH is here Rodders is very happy to be in his company. Like this morning, once I got up and came downstairs Rodders is happy to stay upstairs with him. I could hear OH go in the shower and call him and then I could hear thump, thump, thump. When I went to investigate Rodders was on the landing playing with his slipper. Mean Mummy would have had him shut in the bathroom with her!
When OH got out of the shower Rodders went to lap up the water from the shower tray and then off of OH's legs and feet. He did also try to get the towel but was quite good when he was told no.
OH picked up his slipper on route to the bedroom and as he was getting dressed Rodders dragged his spare shoes, in their carry bag, all the way from the other side of the bed to the landing.
Once OH was dressed he came downstairs but Rodders didn't seem to want to come too, until he said bye bye - he shot down the stairs then.
As OH went out the back door Rodders went too, I could hear OH struggling to get out the gate so I called him and he came running which gave OH time to get out and shut the gate. Rodders then went back to sniff the gate and bark as he listened to OH getting in the car and driving away. Once he was sure he had gone he was happy to come back in and settle down for a rest on his new bed pad.

Oh what joy
Rodders was playing in the garden just before OH arrived home so when I saw the car at the back I opened the patio door. He could hear something and started to bark and ran towards the gate.
As soon as OH spoke the barking changed to squeaks of joy and Rodders could hardly wait for him to come through there gate. He was dancing around his feet as they came up the path and in to the house and couldn't what to get up for a snuggle.
OH had been working for a friend today and their black lab puppy Cookie was there, Rodders didn't even seem to notice the smell or wasn't bothered by it.
OH and Rodders then went upstairs to get slippers and use the bathroom and then came down for a play while I sorted out dinner. OH tells me that Rodders is getting very good at stopping play when he gets too excited or rough and calms down quite quickly but Rodders wasn't really ready to stop playing when dinner was ready and kept jumping up OH at the dinner table, bad boy. He did eventually settle on his snuggle fleece.
Once we had eaten and I had cleared away I left Rodders with OH while I loaded the car up ready to go to the tip. It is so much quicker to do it on my own. Rodders didn't seem bothered by me putting on my coat and going out the kitchen door without him, I am so pleased that he is happy to be with OH.
After looking at some eBay items on OH's lappie and searching on mine I think another trip to Pets at Home is on order to buy a bin to keep Rodders kibble in. It will be far easier to keep it in there and the Curver ones at Pets at Home seem far better than anything else I can find.

Playing in the garden
Rodders wasn't sure what to make of the wind as it was lifting the cover off the patio table. A couple of times he asked to go out and, once the door was open, just stood there looking. It was flipping freezing and a battle to keep the door held open while he made his mind up.
He has been in and out of the garden all morning though, he seems to be spending quite a lot of time on the patio near the gate and I can almost see him through the tree now that the wind has made the leaves drop.
When he hasn't been outside he has been playing with his toys and yoghurt pot and there has been no chewing or biting which is fantastic!
I was in the kitchen for a while sorting out a casserole for the slow cooker. He came through to collect a carrot top which got taken to the rolled up carpet and last about 5 minutes! He happily trotted back through for another.

A bit of a battle & then some fun
Rodders and I were having a bit of a battle over the bed pad when OH got home and Rodders was concentrating so hard on not letting go that he didn't even hear the back gate go. So hearing the back door open was a bit of a shock and he swung round barking until he saw who it was.
As always, Rodders was delighted at seeing OH and wanted up for a snuggle straight away. Once up he was happy to nibble his beard and ears while making squeaky puppy noises.
He eventually let OH go upstairs to get changed but he had to go too. The next thing I know is Rodders is trying to come down the stairs with OH's slipper in his mouth. Me? I had my heart in my mouth as he could so easily have tripped. Having got the first one he then went back for the second one!
OH came back downstairs and retrieved his slippers and went and sat in the papsan chair in the conservatory. You should have seen Rodders move, he ran from the lounge and launched himself at OH. Apparently this is where they snuggle up together in the mornings. Rodders got lifted up and was happy to snuggle on OH's chest, gradually getting further up so that he could nibble his neck, beard and ears.
I pottered about sorting out dinner while they carried on playing. OH moved to the floor with his head on the rolled up carpet. Rodders thinks this is a great game as he can jump all over OH's head, messing with his hair and has better access to his ears.
We had a slight issue over dinner as OH fed Rodders from the table which I don't think is acceptable.
After dinner they played some more, with OH lying on the floor moving around one of Rodders' toys for him to chase, while I cleared up and loaded the dishwasher.
We then went and watched a bit of TV and Rodders went up on to OH's lap for a while but didn't really settle. It was a re-run of a DIY SOS programme that I was involved in, by the time it got to my speaking part Rodders was asleep on the floor.
After that I left them to it and went for a shower. Once I was back downstairs Rodders didn't settle, he didn't know if he wanted to be with me or OH but he didn't want to be on the floor on snuggle fleece. I am wondering if he is finding the laminate floor too cold, even with snuggle fleece, as he would rather be up with one of us for the last few days. OH & I talked about it and we may go and see if we can find him a bean bag or something tomorrow.
Rodders asked to go out in the garden for a piddle a couple of times during the evening.
As the 10pm news came on we moved to the conservatory for more snuggling and playing. OH has got Rodders to understand when to stop playing, if things are getting too rough or over excited, and gets Rodders to sit. They also play tug with the toy in each of their mouths - not sure this is something I will be doing!
At bedtime I took Rodders out in to the garden but he just came straight back in without doing anything. He always does if he has been out in the last hour or two. He didn't go straight in to his bed as usual but sat in the kitchen doorway. I locked up, switched off lights and got treats ready and OH lifted him in to his bed. I gave him his treats and locked the crate and we went upstairs to bed.
Not a peep from Rodders then or when OH got up at 7.15am. Again, we have a tired puppy who seems to be a bit like me when he is tired!

Cleaning
Skevi, our lady that does, turned up about 4.30pm and Rodders was already awake and was letting me comb him through. He barked as she came in the front door but went running to the back door, wonder if he thought it was OH coming home. He let me carry on and finish combing him but he wasn't happy about the slicker so I did two legs and stopped.
Rodders quite enjoys following Skevi around as she cleans, she is used to a toddler and just treats him the same, talking to him and explaining what she is doing. He does like to chase the mop and swiffer so she shut him out of the kitchen while she mopped and while the floor dried, he just sat at the baby gate and barked anyway. But it was a please let me play bark, totally non aggressive!
He ate most of his supper while she was working upstairs and then asked to go in the garden.
Once Skevi left he wanted up on my knee for a snuggle and snooze. I let him have a short rest as we need to go out in about an hour for puppy party.
