Another interview

I drove up to the Industrial Estate for my second interview of the week and found the company straight away.

I had a problem getting in the doors as there is a sign asking you to ring the bell, I did but nobody answered and I was stuck between two sets of doors, both automatic, one opening and the other not. After a few minutes someone wanted out and they let me in. I then picked up the phone and dialled an extension as requested to let them know I was here and who I was meeting and signed in to the visitors book. I spotted a chap coming down the stairs who seemed to be showing out another candidate. Once he had done that he asked if he could help and I told him who I was waiting for and he said that was him. We made our way to the lift and in to a meeting room making the usual pre interview conversation about the journey!

Once in the meeting room he told me a little about the company and the job itself and I asked questions as we went along. He then asked me to talk a little about my cv and asked questions. This job sounds much more my thing than the one I was interviewed for earlier in the week and he seemed really pleased with how things had gone, his actual comment was that he was most impressed with what he had seen!

They are seeing three people in total and I was number two. I really hope that they like me and have my fingers firmly crossed.

I rang OH as soon as I was back in the car but we didn't talk for long as it is only 5 minutes from home and I wanted to see that Rodders was OK.

Just to add to the mayhem

While OH and I were in Homebase I took a phone call from the agency to see how the interview went. I tried to sound positive and then got told I have the job and start on Monday. It is only temporary and should last a month or two.

While OH was putting up the tree I got a call from another agency with a long term temp role, also in Hemel and paying more. I have decided to try and go for this one too. He rang me back later in the day with more details and understands that I need to move quickly if I am going to let down the first job. We will wait and see what tomorrow brings but I could be about to have my second interview in a week!

Off for an interview

It took me a little while to scrape my car, the ice on the windscreen was like glass and needed to be almost chipped off. It is days like this I wish that I used de-icer but it doesn't do your paint work any good.

OH called to say his appointment was over and he was on his way. I missed a parcel late last week so I had left enough time to go to the sorting office to collect it. Our sorting office is in a really stupid place and has no parking so it is always a bit tricky. I hung up on OH and abandoned my car on double yellow lines after checking that the parking warden wasn't in sight and ran across the road, they were queuing out the door, I had left enough time but not that much so I thought it best not to wait.

I rang OH back and we agreed that we would go to the sorting office later so that he could drive around the block while I went in, much easier! I headed for the industrial estate to check out where the interview was and to make sure they had parking. I still had ten minutes to spare so I drove around the block rather than be too early. OH was giving me a pep talk! I hung up on him just before I went in.

The lady on reception was lovely and we chatted as I waited for my appointment. She has seven dogs!  Bang on time I was collected from reception by the HR lady and we went upstairs to meet the Finance Manager. It was a very relaxed interview but I just didn't think I did too well. It is a job much lower than my capabilities but back working at something I know I am good at. Forty five minutes later I was back in the car.

I rang OH to see where he was and he was just behind me so I took the opportunity to go to the cashpoint knowing that he would be with Rodders shortly.
